We stumbled upon The Lunch Box in Winnemucca, NV completely by accident—just punched “lunch” into the GPS on our way to Wyoming and this little spot popped up. At first we weren’t sure what to expect since it’s located inside a community college, but we’re so glad we decided to give it a try.
From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome. Everyone was genuinely friendly, and there was an easygoing, local vibe that immediately put us at ease. The facility itself was spotless—clean tables, tidy counters, everything well-kept, which is always a great first impression.
And then there was the food. What an amazing burger. Seriously—one of those unexpectedly great meals that completely elevates your day. Fresh, flavorful, cooked perfectly, and clearly prepared with care. It’s the kind of burger you don’t forget on a long road trip.
All in all, The Lunch Box turned out to be a surprising gem. If you’re passing through Winnemucca, don’t let its location in a community college fool you—this place is absolutely worth the stop. We’ll definitely remember it the next time we’re in the area.

My partner and I were passing through on our road trip back to North Carolina and we stopped at The LunchBox. It is a quiet and quaint little place to eat! The staff were so kind and the food was GREAT. Highly recommend!

The food is amazing and this is one of my favorite places to go for lunch. However, the last two times I’ve gone I’ve had less than great experiences. The first time the eggs had turned in the salad bar. No biggie except I had them covering my salad. I did tell them they had turned on my way out. I did not expect a refund, which is good because I wasn’t offered one. Today I went for tacos and they kept calling Catherine, which is not the name I gave them. After a while I went to the counter to check on my tacos and they were sitting there on the counter. I said are these for Heather? No, Catherine. I said “oh, well my name’s Heather but I did order tacos”. They basically said that yeah, they’ve been sitting there a while and we called Catherine, and here are your tacos. They were stone cold. Again, no apologies for getting the name wrong, no offer to re-fire the order so it was warm. They had been sitting probably 15 minutes or more. So, I had cold tacos for lunch. I hate to write a bad review, but there is definitely room for growth on making things right when they go wrong, which they inevitably will at some point. Too bad.
-The owner reached out and that goes a long way. Will definitely be back to this establishment.

Absolutely every bit of our meals were delicious! I highly recommend the fried pickles and the Birria Ramen if you like spicy🤤 They made the food quick and we ate at the tables outside with our kiddos. Great location on Campus to eat and explore.

Easy to get to from I80 - GREAT smash burgers, shakes and fries! Wish we could have tried everything on the menu - everything looked delicious! This place is tucked into a very small college campus with plenty of free parking right outside and nice restrooms and seating all around. Super find!

Very friendly staff and great food. The cheese curds are amazing!! The portions were great. I had a lemonade slushy with ice cream and I need another now. I wish I lived closer.

SO TASTY!!! I saw this on our route and it had a high rating so we decided to check it out! To our surprise it’s on a college campus, we almost didn’t go in but I’m so glad we did and I’m so glad it’s open to the public!!! I had the best burger ever!!!! And a plus, SUPER CLEAN BATHROOMS!! Definitely check it out!
