The worst meal we’ve had in years. Honestly, our corn dog we had at the gas station for lunch was better. Burger was way over cooked and dry. French fries weren’t even good. Terrible! And not cheap.

What a dump. Zero effort from the staff. No water pressure. Dumpy grimy pool area. Gathering place for the staff's late night parties. Dirty stairwells. But nice beds.

Only reason I’m putting two stars is because I used to come here a lot when I had a long job in Elko back in 2020. Would have given it 4-5 stars back then. But tonight I rolled back into Elko for the first time in almost 2 years and thought I’m gonna get a room at my favorite hotel/restaurant. (My room is very nice, this post is only about the restaurant). I ordered my usual rib eye and got served a very sad piece of cow. The steaks here used to be a solid 3/4” to 1” thick, this one was under 3/4” and way more grissle or fat than I would pay $33 dollars for. When I sent it back my waitress was full of excuses. Oh it must have been the last one or just a bad one in general. Then why did your cook prepare it and send it to me? If it was just one bad steak, then why even cook it? Do I just look like someone who would take it?Used to be my favorite spots in town, I spent the last couple years recommending this place to friends passing through. No more. I’m done.I think this is one those places that started strong, and acted high class, but ain’t worth your time unless you can’t drive and are already staying here.

The restaurant is in the hotel lobby and is an inviting space. We were staying at a nearby hotel and saw this restaurant was close by. We were told to choose a table, as it was not busy. After a few minutes, a hostess brought menus and said our server was busy but would be with us shortly. When she came, we asked what the soup du jour was and she said meatball soup, which my wife ordered. I ordered the Cajun pasta, which was supposedly to come with penne pasta, which I like. We also ordered hot tea. The tea came, but with no spoons, no sugar, and no saucer to put our used tea bags on. Also, we were not asked if we’d like some water. I had to ask for all of these, which were provided. Then, we were informed that the meatball soup was in fact steak soup, whatever that is. It was more like bad beef stew. It was greasy, and the veggies were mush. My Cajun pasta came with spaghetti instead of penne pasta. Our server explained that they had run out of penne. How does a restaurant run out of something so basic as penne when it is a key ingredient in a permanent menu item? The dish itself, despite the absence of penne, was not bad. Just a tad spicy but within range. However it was short on the mentioned seasonal veggies, being as it was just green and red peppers, which are pretty much always in season. All in all, sadly just not up to par. There’s potential, but they need to step it up a bit.

Been here three times now. Every time we show up they are always closing early or just closed. Called this morning the lady on the phone said they would be open until 9. Showed up at 7 just to be safe and was told that they were closing. I mentioned that I was told they were open until 9 and the lady at the front was very short and said \\\"ya well I'm closing early and only doing to go orders.\\\" She then went to the cook and apologized for having to cook our order. Do not recommend

I've tried to come here 3 times for a date night. Each time I've been told they were open till 9 so I've even come early at 630 and was told they were closing and only doing to go orders... they lady's name was Cali and she was very rude about the whole situation . As far as the food though because we did decide to do a to go order, it wasn't bad.

This place is pretty nice! The food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly! A very clean location! The portions were the perfect size for the price, and cooked by chef's who know their flavors! But I wouldn't mind a bread roll to snack on while the meal is being cooked. In all; I think it was worth the visit and will be going back!

Almost inedible. Go somewhere else. There are a number of decent restaurants in Elko. This ain't one of 'em.

The Ruby Restaurant is part of the Shutters Hotel. Everything is recently updated it seems. When you walk into the hotel lobby, the restaurant is directly to the left. The service staff will advise you to seat yourself and the server will bring you the menu. They have a decent selection of beer and wine and they also had a full bar, but there was no menu for other types of drinks (that I saw). I had a glass of 14 hands Cabernet. My glass wasn't super clean but I didn't bother complaining about it.We ordered the chicken wangs with the 13 spice and it was SO GOOD. Im not a big chicken wang person but these were deeeeelicious. My partner had the daily special - monte cristo. It was a bit flat of a sandwich but he said it was really good. There wasn't anything super special about it but it was good.I had the chicken parmigiana, mostly cuz I was stoked it was served with fettuccine noodles and the meat sauce was homemade. I specifically asked the waitress If the chicken was moist (ok, not like they're gonna say no) and it was! It was a thin breast flash fried and it was delicious with the fettuccine and meat sauce. I would change the parmesan cheese from being thinly grated to shaved flakes though. The service was fantastic, possibly the best part of the experience. It was cool to see the back of house kitchen staff helping the waitress when she was busy - like when new people walked in, the boh staff advised them to find a seat in a super friendly tone. There was obviously good teamwork here and that really makes the experience better. We needed this meal. Thank you so much!

The food was delicious and the chef has a great sense of presentation and flavor. ( He does need some better servers - we had the sou chef who was helping out. I asked for some extra sauce for leftovers and when we got home (we are not from Elko) it was the wrong sauce. We had to wait a long time for our check. The tables could use a little decor of some type. We would go back! The food was memorable!

This place surprised me. Most hotel restaurants are average at best but this definitely exceeded my expectations. The staff was very friendly and the food was very good and fresh. My only knock is the warm pretzels were just a bit too greasy for me.
