I am big fan of Basque restaurants (I have a little bit of Basque heritage) and the Star Hotel has been on my list of top Basque restaurants to visit in the West. My wife and I had an opportunity to eat dinner at the Star Hotel during a recent stopover in Elko. The place has a historic vibe where locals frequent. Compared to other Basque restaurants I've been to it was pretty similar. However the spaghetti was bland like straight up tasted like chef boyardee bland. The lamb was really good and the salad was good too. The beans were ok nothing special and the fries were reasonable. They make an ok picon punch but no complementary wine which is normal at Basque restaurants. But whatever people have told me a million times to eat here and I finally did but yeah it was overall meh
Hands down, the best restaurant! And, I don't mean the best restraunt in Elko, or the best restaurant in Nevada...I mean it is the best restaurant ever! The best steaks, lamb, salad, soup....everything really! I can't recommend The Star enough and I tell everyone about it!
