I have visited El Capitan a few times, and they have never disappointed me. I have had breakfast and lunches...all very good. This past Monday evening, I had a 12 oz NY Strip steak (nice and thick), salad, vegetable, and baked ?. For $21.95... could not have left there any happier than I did. Awsome meal.

I worked here for several years. What you see is not the whole story. The food is OK, the rooms are under OK. The casino is tight. The folks that work there are amazing. If you know the history, it's phenomenal. But it is what it is. It'll get you through. It's basically a stop between Vegas and Reno. I lived in the town for nearly 25 years and it's dying, and that makes me sad. But like everything else, we must move on.

The very worst service I’ve had in over l5 years . I’m on a schedule and their restaurant has absolutely no since of time. Their waitress are on a permanent gab session in the kitchen area. We were seated for over 30 minutes and not even served a water.Also, there was only (5) tables of customers, (2) Waitress and (3) servers on that shift.Solution; go to Port of Subs in town.Going South; Tonopah has a verity of good restaurants.Going North; Fallon, Fernley and Yerrington all have a great selection of restaurants. Oh heck, for that matter, go to the Bar in Mina.They serve after 2pm and are very hospitable when it comes to service & food. I’ll update you as better solutions arrive……….

The service was friendly and prompt. Unfortunately, they were out of beef and turkey so it made sandwich selection pretty sparse. A little smokey walking through the casino to get to the restaurant bu that's par for the.course in Nevada.

Called on Halloween and they said it was too busy to take an order on the phone, and to come in person. Glad we chose another restaurant. In the year I lived in Hawthorne, never ONCE did I have good food here.
Came here for breakfast with family. I ordered the gamblers omelet with bacon and sausage! It was yummy. Our server was great. She continually checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed. The El cap restraunt is always a great choice in Hawthorne when you're hungry!

I don’t know somehow i like the food but they goofed up our order big time.We ordered turkey sandwich WITHOUT BACON as bacon eating prohibited in our family.But they still added and we had already hit the road.So frustrating it was.

Food and staff are average to above average. Atmosphere and decor could use serious deep cleaning and updating. It was smokey and the air cleaners were not up to the task of providing smoke-free air to breathe.

Great place to eat in Hawthorne. Not a huge menu and mostly old school diner type food, however very good food. None greasy and the homemade mashed potatoes and the corn are the best.

Great food! Everyone works there booties off! Very nice staff! Great prices and great variety! They are not gf or df friendly but I was able to order sourdough bread.Meals can be gf and df adjusted! The locals are entertaining! This restaurant was like a step back in time for me on a good note.not new or updated but still good!
