I hadn’t eaten at Buca di Beppo in years. The last time I went, it was great, but after this visit, I won’t be going back.
We started with the trio platter. It came out on a huge plate, but there was very little food on it. The calamari tasted old, bland, and underwhelming. For around $40, it was absolutely not worth it. The waitress offered lemons for it but never brought them. We were also offered bread, which never came either.
The entrees were mostly just okay. The chicken parm was not okay. The chicken was paper thin, dry, tough, and tasted like it had been fried so long that the breading completely dried out the tiny piece of chicken underneath. It says it serves 3 to 4, but realistically it serves 3, not 4, and it costs almost $40.
The vodka penne was literally just penne with vodka sauce and nothing else. For around $50, that felt like a complete ripoff. The salmon pesto was actually good, but even that was frustrating because it says it serves 5 to 6, yet only 5 portions came out. I guess it serves 6 if one person doesn’t eat.
The service didn’t help. Our waitress apologized several times, but apologies don’t make up for offering and then missing bread twice, forgotten lemons which they offered, mediocre food, and an average of about $60 per person with no alcoholic beverages.
To make it worse, the men’s restroom was so disgusting that my wife had to clear the women’s restroom and stand guard so my son could use the bathroom.
Overall, this place was extremely overpriced, disappointing, and nowhere near what I remembered. I will not be back.

Walked in at 4:35 on Mothers Day hoping to treat my Mom to a special early dinner. We were sat and left without a waiter so much as looking our way for 20 mins. We left. Terrible service. Don’t seat people if you’re not going to wait on them!
