If you’re looking for comfort food with a bit of a rebellious streak, check out Freedom Beat inside the Downtown Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.

Created by Hell’s Kitchen winner Chef Scott Commings, this spot mixes classic American eats with a laid-back, rock ‘n’ roll vibe. There’s live music too! Except not when I was there, but I saw a microphone stand so I trust it happens.

Food was just ok. Prime rib was middle of the road. Didn't really taste like prime rib.

Carrots and broccoli were undercooked.

Potatoes were fried but the big ones were undercooked and gross.

Snake bites came out cold and just bland.

Patty melt and breakfast sandwich was good though.

I almost always never leave bad reviews, however this place was not good at all. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was okay- diner like and comfortable booths- however I was greeted with a poor lazy attitude.

I received my food ($24) and the portions were quite small, also the mac and cheese was cold in some places and horribly bland. The mashed potatoes tasted like the powder you buy in-store. Will not return and I advise anyone willing to try this restaurant to steer clear until they do better.

Our time at the Downtown Grand was carried by our time at the Freedom Beat, especially with the service from Norma!

If you come here, you absolutely have to try the Prime Rib; it is absolutely stellar for the price.

Atmosphere is the only thing that I have to knock and that is solely because of being between the hotel and casino floor; the smoke smell can be overwhelming.

This is in downtown Vegas so 9ff the beaten path. Big variety of options. Food was good but we had a little bit of a wait.

I rarely write negative reviews, but our visit to this restaurant was so upsetting that I had felt compelled to share my experience. From the moment we walked in, the service was laced with an unpleasant attitude that completely overshadowed the meal.

My parents came to join me and quietly sat down next to me. They didn’t order anything—just requested from the waitress Cristabel two glasses of water, nothing more. Cristabel reacted as if this was a personal insult. She rolled her eyes dismissively and walked off in a huff. When she returned (after a long, unnecessary delay), she practically slammed the glasses down, making it painfully obvious that our simple request was apparently too much to ask.

The food I ordered was mediocre at best—nothing stood out, not presented well, and certainly not worth the price. But what truly soured the experience was the waitress’s behavior. Because of her cold, rude demeanor throughout, we left a modest tip. As we were getting up to leave, she made sure we heard her mutter, “So cheap!” under her breath—loud enough that it was clearly meant for us.

It was both embarrassing and infuriating to be treated like we were somehow beneath her, simply for not ordering more or tipping generously for bad service. We were made to feel like a nuisance rather than welcomed guests. No one should be made to feel like a vessel for someone else’s frustration while trying to enjoy a meal out.

Needless to say, we won’t be returning—and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who values respectful service.

We had the Breakfast Tacos and the caprese Eggs Benedict which were delicious. The server was friendly and polite. We'll be back.

Really inconvenient that they now close after lunchtime during the week. People who stay at the casino during the week would really appreciate having this place be open later than 2:00pm.

Staying at the downtown Grand for EDC week and decided to come here for breakfast one morning. Their chicken fried steak is one of the best I've ever had! The gravy was very rich & flavorful and complimented the rest of the meal very well

I have celiac disease and eating out can be a pain because of it. But the staff was incredible in assuring me what I could and could not eat. The chef even came out to chat with me about my meal.

Stopped by on a Saturday morning and asked to see a menu before deciding to have breakfast. The hostess asked my friend if she wanted to hold the menu instead, which caught us a little off guard—but no big deal.

Once we sat down, our server was very nice, and the food was great! The only thing that stood out was noticing another server frequently playing with her hair while handling food, which wasn’t the most appetizing sight. Hopefully, that’s something that can be addressed.

Overall, we still had a good experience and enjoyed our meal!

Stopped in for breakfast and the food was great. Our server was super friendly too. Would go back again next time I'm in the area.

The food was okay but freedom Beat? you will find a more up beat staff in a cemetery! The staff didn’t want to be there at all. Also the chicken and waffles still had a few feathers on it. I can’t recommend this place.
