It was a dim sum morning and four of us were jonsing for hargow, shumai char su bao and all the other delicacies that a good dim sum place prepares and serves. We had been here before as singles, groups or whatever. It was always a consistently good experience since we all prefer carts to table service. We got there right as it opened and we were hustled in crowd style and directed to a booth. The cart ladies were rockin and rollin. Most of standards were there, none of items were overly hot, just warm. The congee was a bit watery but ok I guess. There wasn't a huge variety of stuff IMHO, but generally ok. The check came and since was my turn to pay, I just handed my card to the server, told her I wanted a military discount and waited till she brought the copy back for signature. I just looked at the bottom line, the total seemed ok based on what we ate . That was my bad, I should have looked at the itemized bill. But when the server came back, I signed the check and added a 20% tip... No biggie I thought. BUT as I was leaving I noticed a handwritten sign on a little pedestal off to the side of the entrance (not seen due to the cattle car rush to get in) that said parties of 4 or more will be charged a 16 % "service fee" . Now in a regular sit down restaurant I'd have no problem, more people equates to more service from servers. But really in a dim sum place, what is the real service? The cart lady drops the container , stamps your card and walks away, every once in awhile, somebody takes the empties away.. does it really matter how many dumpling containers are dropped on your table? Again totally different if servers carry your food to you and hover around. Now don't get me wrong, I was totally fine giving my standard 20% tip but I call it BS for an additional 16% for "service" . Next time I will base my tip just on the mandatory service charge with maybe a little more to round up. We really like this place and will come back since the food is consistent and location central to our group.

The service was good and the restaurant was busy. However, the food was salty and portions were smaller than others. Apparently, it is popular but not a repeat for my family because of too salty!

I am so enamored of this place. I could go every day. They push the carts around and the selection is fantastic. All of the favorites cooked to perfection. What flavor and tastes! You must try this if you love Dim Sum.

I came to Orchids Garden around noon on a weekend. As expected it was very packed, but we were seated immediately. I really like this restaurant because we're able to order from the workers who were pushing carts with dim sum in them. They weren't the nicest, but it was a quick and good. We also ordered the house special pan fried noodles from the kitchen which arrived really fast. Overall, the food here tastes really good. It's one of my favorite dim sum locations. The service can be a hit or miss though.

Dim sum was great but I have a problem about the way they handled the tip. It was added automatically to your final bill without telling customers. I almost added tip for a second time when signing the credit card bill. They should have crossed out “tip” on the credit card bill.

Had lunch at Orchids Garden and was really excited! It's been a while since I've been to an authentic Chinese Restaurant. We were a bit confused on how it worked since it was our first time dining in. I had to go up to the front desk to ask how everything worked since we were seated and just handed a paper while carts of food was going around and people would just tell them which one they want. At first we thought it was AYCE but we stand corrected. The waitresses pushing the carts of food would give you the dimsum of your choice (if available in the cart) then write it down on the paper. We ate a good amount but also overwhelmed with how many choices there were. My favorite was the fried shrimp dim sum. It was so good! The other dimsums were okay, I wish it had more flavoring it in. The prices were also pretty reasonable! It was a good experience.

Came here for takeout at about 7pm. The restaurant was bustling. I ordered a few items and got it fairly quick. From the time of pick up to the location to where we opened up the boxes was about 10 minutes. I was very disappointed that even though the items I received were hot, the taste, quality and texture are quarantined left overs from the day before. The sticky rice was hard and had hardly any meat in it. The shrimp rolled in noodles were hard as well. I was very disappointed in the quality of my takeout. Only positive thing is the little chili pepper oil they included in the bag.

Great Dim Sum selections. Reasonably priced. Love how they push the carts around. This was my second visit. I would certainly visit again when in the area.

DO NOT trust the prices on the menu, war wonton soup says 9 dollars on menu and they end up charging You 21 dollars for it. They're shady on the prices. English and Spanish speakers, food is good but beware there's people serving You food in a little cart. ITS NOT FREE! They trick you into getting it. It's about 8 dollars per dish they serve you before they bring the food you ordered.

This was my first ever Dim-sum experience, and I throughly enjoyed myself. There was constantly trolleys loaded with food rolling up to our table. I was rolled out of the building fat and happy.
