1847. This is the year that the modern doughnut was invented. Over 165 years later, doughnuts would be completely reimagined at Pinkbox Doughnuts, founded in 2012. What started as a single shop has grown into a local legend, and for good reason. Pinkbox doesn’t just serve doughnuts. It celebrates them. It experiments with them. It takes what is familiar and transforms it into something fun, playful, and sometimes downright outrageous.

Walking into the Lake Mead location feels like stepping into a Willy Wonka-inspired daydream. The air is thick with the smell of fresh dough and sugar, and the display case is a visual feast that demands you slow down and look before deciding. Sure, you can grab a classic glazed or an old-fashioned, but the real magic here is in the creativity. Pinkbox is known for its wild and whimsical seasonal offerings that change throughout the year. Around Halloween, you might find ghost-shaped doughnuts with bright candy eyes. During the holidays, the shelves are filled with Christmas tree designs, red velvet snowflakes, and Santa-themed creations. Even the summer months bring surprises like s’mores-inspired rings and tropical fruit fillings.

Of course, no visit would be complete without trying some of the doughnuts that made Pinkbox famous. The Poo doughnut, a lighthearted swirl of chocolate frosting with a smiling face, has become something of a mascot for the brand. The Vegas Cream, filled with smooth Bavarian cream and topped with chocolate icing, is another local favorite. And if you want something that blurs the line between pastry and indulgent dessert, the cronuts, which are a fusion of croissant layers and doughnut sweetness... First time here. Super friendly staff. Ask for Patricia and Emma. They are the best.

I was not crazy about the doughnut that I had. I had a glazed old-fashioned. It had good texture with a nice crispness but it was too sweet for my liking. The glaze tasted way too sugary. It over powered the taste of the doughnut instead of enhancing it. I will say all of their products were beautifully finished.
