Rise and Shine, A Steak & Egg Place

I have never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant. There were plenty of open tables in the front, yet the hostess, who was unfriendly from the start, walked us past all of them and put us in the very back corner. Moments later, another couple walked in and was immediately seated up front.

When I asked our waitress why, she said the other tables were dirty, which was not true because I could clearly see several clean ones. I even pointed to the couple seated where everyone else was being placed. She kindly offered to move us, but by then the damage was done and we decided to leave. This was not the waitress’s fault. She was kind and apologetic. I forgot to get her name but she was wearing an avocado outfit. This happened this morning.

As Hispanics, it is hard to ignore the feeling that we were treated differently because of who we are. Whether intentional or not, the message was clear. We were not valued customers. I am not someone who usually complains or takes things personally, but this was strange and disappointing. The hostess could have easily seated us in a middle booth if she did not want us up front, but instead she chose the far back corner, which was the ugliest part of the restaurant.

I was so excited to come here and had told my mom how nice it looked. I even planned to take pictures, but where we were seated, there was nothing worth photographing. Unfortunately, we did not even get to try the food, and we will not be back.

The food is great, the staff is super nice and efficient... but it's very pricey for breakfast. The $10-20 price range shown is misleading, at least now.

Yes, I did get steak and eggs, but just that and a glass of orange juice (which I did not have refilled), with tax and a reasonable tip, came out to $45 just for myself. I always wondered why my dad was so skittish about coming here for breakfast, and I think this is why. Most of the other entrees are close to $20 and the steak I got was $28.99, so it's not like if I had gotten a normal dish that it would have been substantially cheaper.

If you're willing to burn money and want a nice brunch, this is a very good place to go. But if $35-45 per person is a bit much for breakfast you may want to look somewhere else.

Came across this restaurant during a Google search and decided to try it out- so happy we did! The decor is inviting and bright, staff was friendly and breakfast was delicious! Our server, Aimee, was great- cheerful and helpful- we took her chilaquiles recommendation and loved it! Very fair prices, absolutely going back again!

Rise and Shine has truly become a second home for my daughter and me. We visit about three to four times a week, and every time we walk through the door between 7 and 8 a.m., we’re welcomed like family.

Our server, Tami, goes above and beyond every single visit. My daughter has special needs and is on the autism spectrum, and Tami has taken the time to learn not only our regular order but also the routines and comfort patterns that help my daughter feel safe and seen. She understands how important consistency is for children with autism, and she genuinely prioritizes my daughter’s care and comfort. That level of compassion is rare, and it means the world to us.

Everyone working during those early morning hours is incredibly warm and understanding. The kindness from the staff creates such a peaceful and positive atmosphere—it really sets the tone for our entire day. On top of that, the food is consistently delicious, and the service only makes it better. It’s the kind of place where you can tell the people care just as much about their guests as they do about the food.

If you’re looking for a family-style breakfast spot that offers not just great meals but also genuine hospitality, Rise and Shine is it. We are so thankful for this place and for Tami and the team who make it feel like home.
