Clean store was in and out very quickly

I’m giving five stars to the sushi department. The two chefs there work tirelessly and are so humble and kind. They work so hard and are there from early morning to late at night consistently throughout the week! The sushi they make is delicious and being a Japanese woman who grew up eating sushi, I know good sushi from “just ok” sushi. Their’s is terrific! I ordered a platter for my daughter’s school for teacher appreciation day and they all loved it! That same week, I ordered another sushi platter for my family who was visiting from out of town and they all raved about it! Great sushi! Great chefs! Great service! They are so accommodating too and fast working! Those two sushi chefs deserve a big acknowledgement and a pay raise. It’s hard to get service and quality like that these days. You can tell they put a lot of heart into their sushi. It’s why I keep coming back and only order sushi from Smith’s.

This has been my go to store but today’s experience will send me next door to Vons here on out. First they said the ribs I ordered were unavailable for my pickup order and there were no steaks available at all. I decided to go in to see if maybe the steak thing was a glitch. I pulled something in my knee and it’s very difficult to walk hence the pick up order. I used one of the riding carts to be able to shop. The first one didn’t work. Got on the 2nd and headed to the meat counter where the young man explained there saw had broken and apologized for the inconvenience and encouraged me to get a rain check. Also the ribs that were “unavailable “ were stocked full on the shelf. I headed to customer service where Shawn told me I didn’t need to come there and pointed at self checkout and said I could get it from a cashier. Headed over there where the young man told me they don’t do rain checks for items with a digital coupon. I understand that but I explained this was a special circumstance due to the saw breaking and the meat man told me to get a rain check. I asked if he could please ask someone for an exception. He goes to two other cashiers who say no and the older lady who’s always on self checkout says she can come back tomorrow. Obviously mobility is an issue and there’s no guarantee the saw would be up tomorrow either. He comes back and says yeah they said no. So I asked him aren’t they cashiers too I expected you to ask someone able to make an exception due to the circumstances. I told him nvm I’ll go ask myself so I go back to customer service for Shawn to rush from behind the desk yelling someone cover me I need to take my break and have been stopped three times as if helping customers is a terrible inconvenience. The way they just dismissed me and handed me off left a bad taste in my mouth. Those mobile carts aren’t easy to maneuver and she could have easily written the rain check herself the first time.

On April 20 2025. I was at Starbucks. Their was a male customer in front of me ,he ordered his Coffee. Since I go there they know me, the associated asked me if I wanted my usual. I said yes, I told her I will be right back to pick up. I went to get a basket. I can back and waited on the side because I had to pay for my coffee I was not feeling well so I was just resting my hand on the counter. There was a man placing his order. The Associate Shawn comes up and gets in line. The Starbucks associate comes back and was going to ring me up. Shawn started yelling at me and making scene that she can't believe I cutting in front of her. The Starbucks Associate tells her I that I had already placed my order , and I didn't cut in front of her. Shawn did not say anything after the Associate said that. I do not appreciate getting yelled at and getting disrespect like that. She was very unprofessional, I can imagine how she treats the other employee she don't like .She made it seem like we were in High School and ready to fight. I never have any problems with any associates.

I had a really frustrating experience with a pickup order at this Smith’s. We showed up to pick up our order and weren’t aware that pickups weren’t allowed after 9 PM—there were no clear notifications or communication. After calling, I went inside to speak with someone, and the manager on duty, Christina, was extremely rude. She kept cutting me off and wouldn’t even let me explain the situation.

I’ve worked in customer service for over a decade, and this is not how people should be treated. I wouldn’t recommend this location—try Vons across the street, Walmart down the road, or Albertsons on Blue Diamond instead.

Sometimes when you want to go to the grocery store, you really want it to be consistent.

This Smith’s IS consistent.

And for that, I’m appreciative.
