I used to really enjoy Wahoo"s: I love Baja/coastal food, surf culture, and eating at a casual place.
But lately, every time I go to Wahoo's, the food is a little less good, and the atmosphere is a little less fun. I only go there to eat and watch videos of surfing. But it feels more like a PT'S these days, which really takes away from the fun beach ambiance of the restaurant. They don't even show surf TV anymore - maybe because it's Match Madness right now - but every time I go, there's no surf or skateboarding videos playing at all. On this most recent visit, I say in the dining room area where 4 tvs were showing college basketball. It was not a big deal, except the audio playing on the speakers was for a hockey game that was being shown in the bar area only.
The food is mediocre and has been on the decline in the last several years. I ordered an Outer Reef burrito with cajun beans & white rice. The beans were BLAND, a very far cry from Cajun flavor. They were plain white beans and the white rice had zero seasoning, not even salt, with several pieces of uncooked rice throughout the burrito. The burrito was very lettuce heavy, and the cubed chicken itself was rubbery in texture. I had to slather it in their house green sauce to give it some flavor. The portions are quite large & satisfying, and maybe a fish protein would have made a better option. But due to the constant issues I have here with mediocre food and generic saloon atmosphere, I believe this will be my final visit to Wahoo's.
I've come to prefer the flavor and quality of nearby Sharky's on Blue Diamond.
Vegetarian options: Excellent variety of proteins, bowls, entrees, and sides.
Parking: Very little parking in front of restaurant, but plenty of parking nearby.
Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly during the day, but very much a bar scene after dark.
Wheelchair accessibility: Seems wheelchair friendly

I enjoy eating a wahoos because of the fish tacos but my wife does not eat fish. I told her just to try something so she ordered the enchiladas. She gave it a 10/10 and now I get to go to wahoos more often!

Fresh food. Great ambiance with enough space.
I wish more people knew about them and kept them busy. I went 20 mins before closing. And they served me with freshly made food, fish tacos and enchiladas. Very satisfying.

Expensive, service was poor and the boldness to suggest 18%-22% tip to order from a cashier, seat yourself, & serve self drink. Food was not worth $48. Not coming back.
Citrus slaw taco’s or burritos are super good!!
Boo, this is our family's favorite place. But the dining room closes at 6:30pm on Saturdays.
