Someone commented earlier that the fajitas were oily and had no taste along with the beans and rice.I ordered them... The fajitas now have lots of salt and lots of pepper! I tried to reduce that with the bland rice and the bland beans and the runny avocado... The good about this visit.Let me tell you about that.I had a wonderful margarita, and their salsa was delicious!! My husband had the huevos veracruz, which he said was absolutely delicious! Great service.

Visiting from Philadelphia and so happy we stopped for dinner. The food was great. I disagree with other reviews saying it needs salt and had no flavor. How much salt do you cook with? Yikes! The chips were warm and the salsa amazing. The frosted mugs to go with the beers hit just right. No one does that at home. The fajitas were loaded with veggies. They even have sushi! So wild. The service was fast and friendly. Stop here. It's worth it.

I’m Mexican and usually I get very disappointed with Mexicans restaurants and their food. We stopped here after hiking at Valley of Fire. On my first bite of their food I knew I have found one of the most delicious Mexican food spots I have ever visited! Everything tasted delicious, the portions were super generous, presentation was nicely served and to top it off the service was definitely amazing. So kind, so attentive, so genuine. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to experience amazing food!

Thank you guys!
You make this Mexican proud of our food! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🔥

I agree with what another reviewer said. The service is excellent, the food plentiful, but there isn’t much flavor. The margarita, the chips, and the guacamole just didn’t have much flavor. And everything needed salt. My veggie burrito looked delicious but didn’t taste like much. I hope they look at these reviews and fix this because it seems like it would be an easy fix.

Perfect Post-Hike Meal Near Valley of Fire

After a long day of hiking at Valley of Fire State Park, I stopped at La Fonda Mexican Food in Overton, Nevada, and it was exactly what I needed. The restaurant is a short, easy drive from Valley of Fire, located right on the main road in town with large, visible signage and a free, spacious parking lot, which is a huge plus after a full day outdoors.

The restaurant was very popular for dinner, clearly a local favorite, yet the large, friendly crew was incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Service was a moderate pace, which was understandable given how busy it was, and I never felt rushed or ignored. They also accept large party reservations, though I visited solo and felt just as comfortable.

The menu offers a wide variety of Mexican and American dishes. I ordered the ribeye burger, and it was outstanding — large, juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The fries were plump, crisp, and cooked just right. I also tried the nachos and guacamole, which were solid, but the real standout was the salsa — easily one of the best I’ve had, with fresh cilantro and amazing flavor.

If you love margaritas, don’t miss them — they’re outrageously good and generously sized. For dessert, the flan was enormous, so much so that I had to take most of it home. It was the perfect sweet ending to an already fantastic meal.

A huge thank you to the staff for working and providing such great service on New Year’s Day. I’ll absolutely be recommending La Fonda to friends and will be back the next time I’m in the area.

Highly recommended if you’re visiting Overton, Lake Mead, or Valley of Fire — this is a must-stop restaurant.

Staff is kind and considerate. The curtain you open to go to the bathrooms is dirty. The food is plentiful but not a lot of flavor. I ordered the chicken enchilada and pork tamale. The tamale was good but chicken enchilada and rice and beans had no flavor. The hubby ordered the fajitas. They were really greasy and had no flavor.

Not sure how these folks maintain such an extensive menu, while keeping the food fresh and ingredients top notch, but they manage to pull it off. Worth a visit after a day of hiking in the Valley of Fire.
