This restaurant was delicious. A bit pricier than we tend to go for but fairly priced for food and location. I had the beef braised short rib and my husband had the ribeye. Both were very good. Vegetables were perfectly cooked and mashed potatoes were perfectly garlicky and buttery.

Fast and friendly! A little off the beaten path but the food was excellent! Wife had the steak I had the braised ribs. Good sized portions.
We were looking for take out pizza. Came her on a recommendation. Disappointed to say the least. We were helped at the bar by Nemanja who explained the pizzas and the sizes. We placed our order for two pizzas, paid (and tipped) and then waited....and waited.... and waited. Nemanja basically ignored us from then on as we stood by the bar while he chatted up other customers. At one point we even dropped $40 on video poker while we waited some more. Finally another bar tender came on shift and found that our pizzas had been sitting there ready. He opened them up and found that after all that, one of the pizzas was completely the wrong one.... So we had to wait for a new pizza to be made which luckily took less than half the time of the first pizzas. The second bar tender was apologetic but Nemanja never said a word to us. Have to say that the pizza wasn't that great and certainly not worth the wait.

Our waitress was really nice but all of the food was just ok. The prices are insane for the quality of food you get. About 50$ per person. Just go somewhere else.

Had dinner at Tahoe Tavern & Grill and it was a good experience overall. We ordered the short ribs and a burger—our server (I think his name was Nick) was super nice, and honestly all the staff we interacted with were really friendly.
I also tried the pineapple jalapeño margarita and wasn’t a fan—it just tasted like straight alcohol. The “short ribs” were tasty, but to be real, it was more like pot roast with mashed potatoes and veggies. Still, I actually really enjoyed it, just wouldn’t call it short ribs. My husband liked his burger too!
All in all, solid spot, good service, and I’d definitely come back—probably to order that “pot roast” again!

Dining at Tahoe Tavern and Grill in South Lake Tahoe was a flavorful escape that hit all my comfort food cravings with a West Coast twist. Walking in, the cozy wooden tables and that friendly Tahoe vibe put me right at ease—perfect for sharing a plate or two with good company.
Starting off, we dove into the juicy birria tacos. These beauties were brimming with slow-cooked shredded beef, tucked inside crisped corn tortillas. Fresh jalapeños and cilantro amped up the flavor, and that rich consommé made each dip pure magic. Birria tacos can be a gamble, but Tahoe Tavern knows what they're doing—every bite was tender, juicy, and deeply seasoned.
Next up: sweet and spicy chili crispy chicken. Wing lovers, listen up! These wings nailed that crunchy exterior while staying super moist on the inside—seriously addictive. The glaze brought a little heat and a touch of honeyed sweetness, balanced by a side of crisp carrot and celery sticks. Dipping them in the ranch was a must!
The surprise hit of the meal had to be the Cuban sandwich. I’m picky about my Cubanos, but this one was stacked: smoky ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, tangy pickles, and just the right smear of mustard, all pressed together in toasty bread. Paired with those golden fries, it checked all the boxes.
Drinks were cold, the service was sharp, and everything felt relaxed and welcoming. Tahoe Tavern and Grill serves up generous portions and even bigger flavors—a must-stop for anyone in South Lake Tahoe who loves a satisfying, flavorful meal with a side of good company.

Should be 1/2 price for what is served. I get there’s a low profit margin for restaurants; but I’d rather stay home than spend $70 for a bland partially raw burger, a birria melt with a side salad composed of lettuce tomato and cucumber for $31, and a $6 glass of milk. Nah. One and done. Lesson learned. Sadly, I think a casino meal may have been better. Oh, well. This is what eating out has come to these days. Very rare to find a place worth the money they charge.
