Our server was a wonderful woman named Susan ( I am like 98% sure of her name ) she gave us a 5 star experience. The food was also 5 stars. We had just been on a short train ride to Gold Hill and back and decided to get breakfast. Best decision. We were celebrating our 19th anniversary. Thank you

In July 2025 had a late start for breakfast so only got there after 11 a m so we ate what we ordered because we all were so hungry. Had the chicken fried steak breakfast, the meat was rather hard and chewy, should have had a crust but was soggy, ordered eggs with runny yolks, yolks almost solid, was supposed to be homemade gravy per the waitress but it was not, think mainly flour & water, the potatoes were tasteless. I love to eat breakfast out but this food was a big disappointment.

The food was so delicious and the staff were very friendly. The restaurant itself is beautifully quirky. I'm so glad we stopped and we'll be back!

Amazing food. Actually blew my mind how perfect everything was. Decent price and incredible service. Our server was wonderful and I may go back just for her local knowledge of not the atmosphere and incredible lunch. I can't say enough about this place.

I am always looking for great eats, and Calamities didn't disappoint. Great atmosphere in an old cider mill. Service was top notch (thank you Susan, you are the best!) But the show stopper was the food... The chorizo home fries were perfect, crispy flavorful while the insides were perfectly cooked. The biscuits and gravy rocked... Biscuits done right (and I'm a recovering southerner who knows biscuits) and the gravy was excellent (not too floury or greasy), just meaty enough. The others in our group had the huevos rancheros (with a superb home made salsa), and a breakfast burrito. All 5 star. Absolutely the best place to eat in Virginia City

Finding this restaurant was the cherry on the pie in our visit to delightful Virginia City on 9/17 & 9/18/2025. The inside and outside seating are both a real treat. Outside the garden and gnomes are lovely. The stone inside of the prior cider house dining room has history covering the walls. A very enjoyable way to spend in btw ordering and the over the top delicious food being placed on your table. To top it all off Susan the server was delightful and a history buff about the restaurant, the town, and the surrounding area. We had traveled from CA to find and view the wild mustangs. We found a herd coming down from the hill to the Washoe State Park where they ate the green grass. We were able to sit near them very quietly as they grazed.

This place has the BEST food. The best service and best atmosphere. 10 outta 10. We knew we'd be by Virginia city so we picked a spot from these reviews and had to go. Now were giving a review. The croissant 🥐with the breakfast was perfect. The drinks were 🔥 and the rest of the plate was DELICIOUS

This place is as hometown as it gets. Made from scratch menu offerings, genuinely friendly service, and the food is delicious. Then it comes to spring, summer and fall when you can enjoy this great food in the shaded patio, listening to birds and smelling the flora. As far as shady sales tactics mentioned in another review, it may have been a miscommunication and settled by a discussion instead of a poor review after the fact. I will add, I love the muffins being pushed because if not, I’d miss out on all of the clever combinations they offer. Further, they’re better early in the morning when they’re warm and very fresh!!!

Was disappointed, reviews looked good. Atmosphere was charming and service was great. Although the food missed the mark. My wife had biscuits and gravy, the gravy was salty and the biscuit were dry and hard. I had steak and eggs, it was ok. The steak had a texture of frozen packaged meat. It also had a cut in where it was checked for temperature. The grandkids had pancakes which were very good. If you want to stand out, step up your food quality.
