The food is simply great, and I believe their garlic bread is the best in the state of Nevada! If you like family places and quality food you'll like The Cider House! I've been 10+ times now and have enjoyed it every time.

This mother-son team were working hard, providing great service and delicious food to a packed dining room. We visited Virginia City for 2.5 days and this was one of the best parts of our trip. Many parts of the city aren’t the most welcoming if you don’t follow their views. We didn’t feel any of that here. Just a welcoming place to eat good food.

Great food, friendly service, nice location at edge of town (away from the bustle) with charming ambiance and outdoor seating.

This shows it’s temporarily closed but we were there two days ago and it was delicious. Seems like it was a Mom and her son running the operation. She cooked and he served. When seated he told us it would be a bit as he didn’t want to overwhelm the kitchen and we were fine with that. We say out on the patio with our dogs and enjoyed the view and a soda. Our order was taken after about 10-15 minutes and took a bit to come out but wow, so worth waiting for. We had the cider bread and the spaghetti and meat sauce. All of it was beyond our expectations for a small cafe.

If you need another reason to head to Virginia City NV besides it being literally one of the coolest historical towns around...

Here it is!

The Canvas Cafe is now making fresh Cornish Pasties, a food commonly eaten by the miners of the Comstock!

We tried the corned beef hash version; the pastry is light and flaky, the filling is abundant and very tasty. Just scrumptious!

Head on up to VC today and grab a taste of the past!

Tell them Barbara & Alan from the Fourth Ward School Museum sent you!!

Screwed up my husband and nephew 's order. They ate it any way, potatoes weren't done. Coffee was undrinkable and very very expensive. Not sure if we will go back

The steak and eggs here is a wonderful breakfast! My wife had the omlette with (sausage, green peppers and onions, then mushrooms, spinach, and Swiss cheese) and said those were great too!

Kind of a neat place. We stopped for lunch and it was a good choice. Service was excellent. They had a wide variety of beers and an okay menu.

Cute place.
Expensive and food tasted like it was from yesterday. Hash browns were so hard, my fork could not pick them up.
Poached eggs were more like over light/runny. Other tables got wrong orders.
