Waited an hour for Bulgogi and for what you pay it was the smallest portion of food I’ve ever been served in a restaurant. Manager/Owner tried arguing with us about how long we’d waited. Probably wouldn’t even be leaving the review if it wasn’t for that guys attitude. Left hungry.

I stopped by the restaurant for lunch on my way to Elko. A Korean restaurant in Winnemucca feels like a mirage, but it is real. All the dishes we had were tasty. The waiting staff were super friendly. Their new location in a mall was nice and functional. They are definitely growing more popular, adding variety to the Winnemucca restaurant scene.

As tired travelers looking for a good meal with vegan options, we were so optimistic. We soon learned they were out of tofu. Then we were told they would serve us a hearty bowl of kimchi. Turned out they served us the bottom of the barrel of kimchi, about a shot glass full. So we asked for extra vegetables, and they agreed. It seems they must have been running low on vegetables, because there was a pittance of vegetables and no promised broccoli.

Tourist Trap — Overpriced, Tiny Portions, Rude Staff, and Misleading Reviews

We had one of the most disappointing dining experiences at Koreana Korean Cuisine in Winnemucca. This place is a textbook example of a highway stopover tourist trap — not somewhere locals would ever return to.

Despite the 4.6 Google rating, what we got was nowhere near acceptable for the nearly $60 we paid for just three dishes:
• Chap Jae ($15.95): The box was barely 1/3 full — it looked more like leftovers than a fresh order.
• Bulgogi ($19.95): Just a few thin slices of meat, one small scoop of rice, and a few sad pieces of kimchi — not even enough for a kid.
• Bi Bim Bap ($18.95): Equally unimpressive — and definitely not worth the price.

And here’s what made the experience worse:
1. We arrived at 5:00 PM, and the restaurant was completely empty. Yet we were told we’d have to wait 30 minutes for a to-go order. These dishes clearly don’t take that long to prepare.
2. When we expressed concerns about the portion sizes after picking up the food, the owner offered no real solution — just tossed in a spoon of rice and rudely told us to leave. No apology. No acknowledgment.
3. Since this was a take-out order, I’m especially glad I didn’t leave a tip — this place doesn’t deserve one.

Bottom line: This restaurant is NOT for locals. It’s designed to take advantage of unsuspecting travelers passing through. The high reviews are misleading, and the service is unprofessional and borderline hostile.

Wonderful surprise stop. My husband has been craving authentic bibimbap for the past 2 years (since he served in SK) they nailed it! Truly enjoyed the food. You must try the bulgogi mandu for the appetizer Soo good; should have ordered a second order. The stone bowls keep the food VERY HOT so ask for a cup of ice 😂 food is too good to wait for it to cool
Loved the citron tea. Worth the stop!

Kid-friendliness: Very polite and patient with the kids ☺️

Koreana Korean Cuisine was a delightful and unexpected surprise during our stop in Winnemucca, NV! As someone who has enjoyed Korean cuisine in major cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City, I can confidently say this unassuming spot stands out with its authenticity and charm.

We didn’t have the time to indulge in their signature Korean BBQ (which we’ll definitely return for!), but the dishes we tried were outstanding. The steamed mandu were perfectly crafted with a tender wrapper and flavorful beef bulgogi filling, complemented by homemade kimchi that was crisp, fresh, and bursting with vibrant spice. The beef bulgogi sandwich was a creative and satisfying take on traditional flavors, with tender, marinated beef tucked into a soft bun. The yakisoba noodles were savory and perfectly stir-fried, making for a comforting and flavorful dish.

What truly sets Koreana apart is its story and warm hospitality. The restaurant is owned by a Korean woman who married a former U.S. Army paratrooper, and their family’s dedication to both their food and service shines through. Their daughter served, and their son is currently serving in the U.S. military, making this a true family-run gem.

If you’re passing through Winnemucca, Koreana Korean Cuisine is a must-visit. It’s a testament to the power of great food and heartfelt service, and I’d argue it rivals some of the best Korean restaurants in much larger cities. Highly recommended!
