China Taste is one of our favorite places to go in Amherst. There are two dishes that we get consistently. The first is their stir fried cabbage in chili oil. The cabbage has great umami flavor while maintaining its crispiness. The second dish we almost always get is their mapo tofu. This is one of the two best and most authentic, which to me means the same thing, Chinese restaurants in Buffalo. I don't know how they do with American Chinese food, but the Chinese Chinese food is like being in China, only better, because it is usually easier to get consistently high quality meat and produce in the United States than it is in China. Best cumin lamb ever. Every time I visit Buffalo I make sure to stop by for some. Dumplings are yummy too, and the green beans with pork. I have tried a few places in NYC that have their own versions of cumin lamb and end up disappointed because they are not as yummy and meaty as this one. Yum!
