Avoid at any cost. If I could give 0 star i will. Look what they are giving customers for 13$/plate. it's just disgusting how cheap they are. Their portion keeps getting smaller every time we have gone there. Spend almost 200$ and look what they gave us. The food quality and taste is ZERO!! COMPLETELY ZERO!!! We will not buy food from these people anymore. They are a rip off! Do not go there and pay 13$ for this (look at the pictures) Also Service is non-existent. A huge huge disappointment!! I have warned you everyone. Totally Avoid!!!

I went to the halal guys restaurant yesterday and I was extremely disappointed with the portion sizes they give there’s barely any chicken yet they fill up the whole plate with rice. It’s like paying for a bowl of rice anyways I ordered my plate and I take a bite and I find a pretty big BONE inside the chicken which I could’ve swallowed by mistake or choked on. I am extremely upset

I came out surprised by the saleswoman's actions. She put the remaining rice, how little it was, because the big pot was finished. She did not go and bring new rice, but put the old rice in my plate. It was little and dry, and all oil. The amount of chicken was very small. My plate was lettuce and tomatoes. I paid 14.56 for lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. This is sad.
Nish was an amazing employee! She crafted my plate with love! 10 out of 10! No notes!!

The lady there was super nice food was great. I am usually hesitant while ordering my food and she was super patient.she offered to give my baby sister a toy. She even let me try a free sample after I finished my food cuz I didn’t know they had that flavour of chicken. Overall rice was fluffy beef is great chicken is amazing. Great place 100 percent recommend. You can’t taste flavours like these anywhere else.

Good food and great service. Nish helped me a lot today and ensured that my food was hot when I picked it up

Our bill was $155 , I need one hot sauce packet I asked the worker if you can get 1 pack but he refused we have to pay for it and charged again $2.55 for hot sauce packet, but I have different experience in halal guys in newyork if you asked as much they will provide no hassle, I think this location is a franchise that’s why the workers behave like this

Worst service and worst experience. The staff must be trained how to deal with customers. Incomplete cutlery, tasteless food. The lady said she is the manger, however, was giving favour to her friends. She involved her friends (2 boys) in the matter just to get their support. We should have called police because of their behaviour. However, our family showed patience. The management must ask the lady how she can involve her friends with any other customer’s matter…

I wish I could give 0 stars.
I ordered lamb over rice, chicken over rice and wings. The food was cold and completely tasteless. They were cooking chicken right in front of us, and the smell was overwhelming and unpleasant. The gyro meat wasn’t even grilled properly. I’ve never regretted buying food this much. To make matters worse, the staff was incredibly slow. Very disappointing experience overall.

As good as any other chain location, but not as good as the NYC truck.

As someone who moved to Buffalo from NYC, The Halal Guys in Amherst brought a wave of nostalgia—it reminded me of the iconic food truck back home. While the quality at franchise locations is understandably a notch below the original, the chicken is still solid, and I always enjoyed it during my college days at UB.
I’ve made it a tradition to stop by whenever I visit Buffalo, and in-person orders are generally decent. However, the ordering experience through the app or delivery services is a mess. Orders often come out wrong, and the customization system is confusing—items like onions or peppers are set to default, and selecting “extra” doesn’t clearly translate on their end.
Worst experience was when I had a friend bring me food to Michigan and ordered a family platter with extra protein—they forgot the protein and refused to refund since it was a bundled package. The app doesn’t help either—nothing prints clearly on their receipt.
Giving this place 3 stars purely for the food and nostalgic connection to NYC. Everything else—service, app, and accuracy—really needs improvement.
