1/2 dozen bagels on a pinky shake! Let me explain please: I’m not local to the area, I’ve been coming over to Bluepoint to house sit for my Sister. Last week At 6:00 AM I went into the deli to purchase some bagels for my husband. I reached into my bag and didn’t have my wallet. The young man working there said it’s ok dear, I’ll give you the bagels anyway on a “Pinky Shake” and you can come back later and pay me. All though I didn’t want to do it, I agreed “feeling obligated” to quickly pay I ran home across the island to retrieve my wallet so as to pay on our commitment. The gentleman working there said Hun, you didn’t have to rush! This is the way it used to be back in the late 60s and 70s when I was growing up. Trust was an openly accepted way of life back in those days. Although I’ve patronized this deli before mostly breakfast and bagels which has always been over the top in taste and quality, to see that there are good caring people these days are a God send! This Deli is by far the Deli I remember growing up that existed on Main Street America. Thank you Firehouse Deli and thank you to that Handsome man who bailed me out as I was able to provide my husband with some of the best bagels available in this part of the island. It is not what I expected. Wen you first enter, you immediately notice the limited supplies and empty trays. The menu on the board looked good. I ordered a Caprese panini (chicken, fresh mozz, roasted peppers and pesto) and an egg sandwich. Service was quick. The egg sandwich was average nothing great, not worth writing about, but certainly not good enough to go back there a 2nd time. The panini, It is obvious they did not know what a panini is. The type of bread was cheap and has some slight grill marks on it. But the sandwich was not pressed, and served warm; it was cold and the bread was falling apart, and there was no pesto. I was hungry so I ate a few bites of the "panini" but then picked out the very cold chicken and cheese and tossed the bread. I was sick for over a day from eating there. although they were friendly, I do not recommend it.

Extremely rude to customers! Every time I place an order over the phone they want you to place your order they way they want to...they should be the ones to figure it out and they rush you off the phone!
The day of the local deli seems to be fading into the great beyond. But Blue Point Deli has remained one of the best for a many years as I can remember. Always clean and then food always fresh.
