I hadn't been in about 10 yrs (life happens while you're making other plans) but it's as good as I remember. I got NY strip, baked clam appetizer, Caesar salad, perfect fries, apple strudel - all delicious. The steak sauce wasn't my favorite (it's kind of sweet for my taste) but the steak didn't need it
Try the pumpkin beer - FYI the glass has cinnamon sugar on the rim which turned out ok

If you’re looking for the best steakhouse, look no further than J&R’s Steakhouse in Calverton. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years, and the quality has never changed—it’s still absolutely top-notch.

The steaks are cooked to perfection every single time, bursting with flavor and tenderness that you just can’t find anywhere else. This is truly “THE BEST” steak I’ve ever had.

What makes J&R’s even more special is the warm, homely atmosphere and the incredible staff. The service is always friendly and attentive, and on our most recent visit, our server Tanuja went above and beyond to take care of us. She made the entire experience even better.

Another thing I admire is their pricing. While most restaurants have raised prices drastically with inflation, J&R’s has managed to keep theirs reasonable without compromising on quality. That says a lot about their commitment to customers.

This was our 5th visit, and honestly, I just can’t get enough of this place. If you want great food, fair prices, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel at home, J&R’s Steakhouse is the spot. Highly recommend!

FRIES. DON’T. BEND LIKE THIS.

Our server said that she “does not know why the fries come out like that.” Well, ALLOW ME to enlighten her.

They didn’t wash the starch off the potatoes after they were cut, resulting in uneven starch distribution which causes some areas to be dark and others very light.

They didn’t coat the fries in flour or corn starch before frying them, which is why the exterior has no crunch.

Finally, they threw way too many fries in the oil at once, releasing too much water which dropped the oil temperature and boiled the fries. Thus, they bend like noodles when they come out.

Awful food and awful wait times. Go to the J&R’s in Rocky Point instead!

This place is a real hidden gem. All the Hofbrau's on tap, tender steaks, the best.

The staff were very respectful of space for me and my service dog 🐕‍🦺. His is an unusual breed and coloring 😀. After dinner we did a meet a greet in the lobby and were asked to come back anytime (with him of course) lol 😆 😉

I ordered the prefix cowboy steak, which is a bone in ribeye. The steak was cooked correctly as I ordered it medium rare. Unfortunately, there was a lot of tendon and fat on the steak . It came with a side of so-called cream of spinach. I hate to say this, but it tasted like spinach snot. The potatoes, which were the JR skin on potatoes were very good. My daughter ordered the skirt steak and it was excellent. The fries appeared to be of the frozen variety. Nothing special. Her Caesar salad was very good . For dessert we ordered the apple strudel and the brownie sundae. I thought the brownie sundae was a bit expensive at nine dollars considering it was just a very basic brownie with a generous scoop of ice cream and a little whipped cream. The apple strudel was nothing to write home about. A mediocre dining experience.
