Just stopped in in honor of my good late friend Dave kio ! Bought everyone a drink . Place was packed ! Every table was full . The bar as well . One of few places left in the north country .
In 1986 I was the Bar Keep when Mary owned the place. I lived on River Road. It was something out of the West. Rustic, large wood stove in the middle of the room, plus a hound dog that slept there, the pool table in the back area. Just a great place to have a few beers. Yes, the Snow Mobilers were great for business. I remember when "Red" Powell was tearing out the rooms up stairs and the walls had 1916 Utica news papers for insulation. I was just looking for a place to stay one night for a bike race. Not much in the area. Got this place. Basically a room above a tavern. Lots of four wheelers. Band played until 11, then totally quiet. Basically get a room. Share a bathroom and several common areas rooms. No one else was staying, so had place to myself
Bike was on the car and was very safe. Had dinner downstairs at tavern. Good food for good price. Friendly people, all the way around. Outpost restaurant...
