I’m embarrassed to say I’ve lived here for 4 years and only tried takeout from Thai Golden for the first time tonight. Everything was excellent and fresh - duck rolls were delicious, curry was legit and same for the drunken noodles. Will definitely add this place to the rotation and look forward to trying other menu items!

Cute little spot with a wonderful staff of great young servers. All the servers from our waiter, (Sophie-he was kidding about his name) to Emily and Hailey were funny and personable but they also offered great service and were attentive. The food was pretty good and I definitely will be back. Cute spot

I'm not really sure what happened, but my wife (who is from Thailand) and I stopped in for lunch the other day and had to leave without ordering. We walked in, and there was one girl working who ignored us for long enough for me to think to myself, "ok, should we just sit anywhere, or should I call in to place my order?". Finally, after looking at the menu, she came back and asked what we would like to eat. My wife asks who was working in the kitchen today, and she looks at us like she could not understand the question ?. She asked again and got another look. I said to the waitress, "she was asking because she used to work here and knows some people and the owner. She just wanted to say hello." My wife said. "Never mind, I'll just get Som Tum soup, but can you make it like Authentic Thai style?" The waitress says," uhhhhhh... I don't know what you mean... the only person here today cooking is so and so, and they don't know what that is." My wife then said that a person from Thailand who is a chef will know, can you ask them?" She says,' ummm, yeah, buuuut I still don't know what you mean. " Not in a helpful inquisitive way but in a triggered, offended way. Basically, indicating she was not going to just ask but wanted to have a stand-off . Finally, after a long period of not being patient or helpful, says..."I don't know what you are talking about, I will have to call someone else." Walks away for like ten minutes and hides in the back until we quietly stand up and let ourselves out and went somewhere else.

Replying to the Owner;

Thank you for addressing the problem, it is not a big huge deal. We were from Carmel and my Wife wanted to hopefully speak to some old friends, but I assume that they are long gone. We were in the area and decided to stop in to say hello but was not aware of the fact there were new owners. We have been away for a long time.... Good luck, hopefully this can be a learning experience for everyone. Not sure why things went so bad over such simple questions. If you are concerned about it, then you have reasons I'm sure. Not going to press the issue. Hope you can understand from our perspective.

The best Thai food you can get in these area. Spacious with indoor and outdoor dining. Service is a breeze and the food is as authentic as you can have.

Parking: 2 hours free street parking

Parking: Parking is located behind the restaurant, shared with a bunch of other stores on the block. I didn't know it was there, so I walked 22 minutes up from the shopping center at the bottom of the hill...

Thai Golden is my favorite restaurant in Carmel, hands down.The food is incredible and I have some favorite dishes that I cannot live without (i.e. green curry, pad thai, roti, thai classic stir fry, mango sticky rice... JUST TO NAME A FEW!) You can taste the passion used in the cooking and the atmosphere is so cool with the variety of bright colors and scenic lake view. It's also a bonus that the cutest little gift shop is connected! Just nothing ever bad to say and I will keep coming back again and again, and you should too!
