Okay, so they got me order wrong a year ago. I completely forgot. Today they gave me the order for free because they somehow remembered. I had completely forgotten.

My culinary tour of upstate New York continues—and today’s craving was unmistakably Chinese. After a quick search, I stumbled upon Chopstick in Catskill, NY. Pro tip: if you’re looking for it, don’t trust your GPS alone—just look for the towering 10-foot chopsticks out front. Blink and you’ll miss the building, but you won’t forget the food.

This charming little red restaurant may look unassuming from the outside, but inside? It’s dishing out serious flavor with a side of small-town hospitality.

I phoned in my order and was immediately greeted by a kind, courteous voice. They not only took my order, but repeated it back with the kind of accuracy that would make a court stenographer proud. A small gesture, but a big win when you’re particular about your dumplings (and trust me—I am).

Let’s talk food.

Pan-Fried Vegetable Dumplings:
These were pan-fried to golden perfection. Each dumpling was generously packed with veggie filling, but the dough was a tad thick—nothing a good dunk in their perfectly balanced dumpling sauce couldn’t fix. Salty but not overpowering. A dumpling win.

Sesame Chicken:
Yes. Just… yes. Giant, tender chunks of actual chicken breast (not mystery meat), perfectly crisped and coated in a glossy, sweet sesame glaze. It comes with rice and enough leftovers for a midnight snack or a friend—if you’re feeling generous. I wasn’t.

Kung Pao Chicken:
A savory, satisfying mix of veggies and protein with just the right amount of heat. Flavorful, spicy, and honestly one of the better versions I’ve had—city or small town.

Chicken Fried Rice:
A mountain of rice generously peppered with chicken. It had good flavor but leaned slightly dry. That said, I’ve had worse at places with white tablecloths and inflated prices, so I’m not mad about it.

All in all, Chopstick is a solid 4-star gem in the Catskill food scene. Friendly service, great value, and food that hits the spot when the craving for Chinese cuisine kicks in. I’ll be back—and next time, I might just bring friends. Or not. Depends on how I feel about sharing.

Verdict:
Come for the giant chopsticks. Stay for the sesame chicken. And don’t forget the dumpling sauce.

We are not even halfway done with our food and had to stop to write a review. We're from NYC and eat chinese food all the time, safe to say this spot is the best chinese food we've tried. We got the chicken/broccoli with garlic sauce as well as the sesame chicken and it is so flavorful and fresh. The sesame chicken pieces were huge. If you're in the area def try it!!

Chopstick Asian Restaurant Bridge St, Catskill N.Y. If your palette craving Chinese food ,try this cute Cafe style. The spare ribs had nice texture and flavor, sauce was a little heavy. String beans with pork and tofu was delicious and house special fried rice was a little bland but extremely fresh, orange chicken with broccoli had nice delicate flavor with orange skin. Spicy salmon sushi roll and shrimp tempura was fresh but a bit bland. Overall the Chinese dishes was flavorful. If your ever in Catskill give Chopstick a try.

I had a lunch here with my family during my trip. The servant here was very kind and friendly. I had a little boy so I requested some boiled noodles for him, and the chef cooked that noodle pretty yummy for my son. Other dishes they served were also awesome! Highly recommend this restaurant!

Kid-friendliness: They provided good service for my kid. You can request them specific noodles you want them to cook for your kids. Sweet :)

I recently discovered this hidden gem of a restaurant and I must say, it is truly a great find. The sushi is exceptional, but what sets this place apart is their unique menu that goes beyond traditional Chinese and Japanese cuisine. The variety of offerings is impressive - we tried their homemade Crab Rangoon, which was hands down the best I've ever had. For our main course, we indulged in the Seafood Deluxe, which consisted of shrimp, scallops, lobster, and crab. It was an outstanding dish and priced at only $19, it's a steal. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
