Lord forgive me for speaking the truth but it must be said. The restaurant is nice, limited parking but cozy inside. There is no table service, you just have to get your food and go to the tables. The cashier was very very nice and you can see the guy preparing the food behind her.
Now, the food. I got the jerk chicken, pulled brisket with mash potatoes and cauliflowers. My husband got a pulled brisket sandwich with mac and cheese. Please believe the one star reviews on here for the taste of the food. It was SO BAD I couldn’t even finish. Dry isn’t even the word. West Indian’s would be rolling over their grave if they tasted this “jerk chicken.” It was terrible! It was so dry and no where near the taste of jerk chicken. The pulled brisket was dry, the bbq sauce that came with it helped a little but nothing was saving this horrendous taste for the meal. My husbands mac and cheese lacked salt pepper and flavor. The cauliflower was a bad choice, idk what I was thinking. The mash potatoes were mediocre. The portions were generous but with the lack of taste I ended up throwing most of my food away. I felt bad but I just couldn’t eat it. The only thing that tasted good was the soda. The soda that came in a bottle from Coca Cola.

Edit/ Add after the owners reply:
Yes let’s please speak the whole truth.
1. Could you please check your footage again and see how long I waited at the front of the door for the parking that I found 5 spaces apart?
2. This is the husband: I am not a believer of wasting food, had to drench the brisket in the bbq sauce, ask for salt and pepper to fix the Mac and cheese to actually finish my food. And was my plate clean?
3. Could you check your footage and see how many times I spat out your food in the sauce cup?
4. We were laughing and joking because we did come out of the city for a visit for a weekend gateway and chose this place for lunch, were we supposed to cry that the food is bad? and we were baffled cause we didn’t know what to do!! we didn’t want to hurt your feelings and tried very hard to finish the food. We overlooked the one star reviews on this place and gave the place a chance and sadly it didn’t work out.
As a small business if you can’t take feedback then why even bother?
Instead of checking the footage and attacking a customer, maybe make better food? And you say to come up to tell you in your restaurant, tell you what? You would’ve given me my 43 dollars back?

I was passing by and stopped in and I’m glad I did. The brisket and pulled pork were delish. The baked beans had brisket and hot links and were tasty, the mac & cheese was meh. The pickles were just ridiculously spicy so that a hard pass for me. All in all, def worth the $25 for the huge portions I’ll go again.

Best BBQ in the area, hands down. The sandwich came out and the bun was not visible, could barely even hold this monster. Juicy, saucy piglet all over the plate, mingling with the Mac n cheese, and they threw in spicy garlic and pickles to really ramp things up, quite a party. I was the porker walking out, greasy, happy, and rotund. Would get too full here again.

Dry rub was applied to only one side of the rack and did not even fully cover that side. Ribs were much too far on the fatty rather than balanced side making it feel like there was cost cutting on the meat selection. Cornbread tasted like a mix. I’d rather pay more for good cornbread than less for bad cornbread (they were only $1.50 each so price was low but so too was the quality). I wanted to like this place given the reviews but it did not meet the basic standards for preparing ribs. If you get the ribs, be sure to check the rub and the quality of the meat when you sit down or before you head out if it is a pickup. Skip the cornbread. The place was clean and convenient to get to. The staff were pleasant.

Worst BBQ my wife and I have ever had. The pastrami Ruben meat was near 100% brown and so dry. Mac and cheese side was just mush. The best part was the canned baked beans. Service was OK. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.

This is the best bbq food I have ever had. The family in there is always nice and always take care of you. They give you so much food per serving.

Solid, pretty sweet BBQ, spicy options weren’t very spicy, and continued to be very sweet… dessert bbq? Nice staff, very clean space, quick service!

My friend and I took a drive yesterday to see the foliage in the Catskill area. We happened upon this restaurant after doing a search online and we are very happy that we did. The food is excellent and homemade. I had the Thanksgiving turkey bowl special and it had a huge amount of food in it. and I was able to get a second meal out of it. Absolutely delicious. My friend had Ribs and mashed potatoes and mac n cheese
with cornbread . She enjoyed every bit of it. They have some really delicious individually wrapped desserts, and I took a few of those home. So far, everything has been perfect from this establishment and I totally recommend it if you want a delicious meal. Thank you to the proprietors and staff. I’m impressed!

I wish I could rate the service but I cannot. The take your order, then ask you for a 15 to 25% tip on the register for taking your order. But you then must pick your food up and bring it to your table and clear it from your table as well. So other than somebody asking you what you want, there is no service to rate. But the food is good and fast.

First time I've ever eaten at J&J's, and I loved every bite! Brisket was juicy and tender, hot sausages were excellent and their heat wasn't overpowering. Their potato salad is excellent, and this is coming from a guy who doesn't usually care for potato salads made with mayo. I had a 2 meat platter, and they give you large portions wih 2 sides and their own cornbread plus home-made spicy pickles. I tried their horseradish sauce with the brisket, and was extremely pleased! I doubt you'd be disappointed by anything on their menu!
