This is a review for the ice cream shop inside.Great flavor with amazing texture, very low prices (3 flavors for $5), sampling is allowed, and a decent number of options (8 one vegan). There is a $10 minimum for card payment.We got the killer chocolate (outrageously good, a must try), lavender and coconut almond joy. All three were great and the lavender had a nice subtle flavor.They serve ice cream made from Hudson valley creameries. They also have free mint water.

On the recommendation from the owner of Peyton’s gift shop in Catskill we headed to Mermaid for lunch. She suggested the Salmon Poke Bowl which my husband got and I got the Cod Tacos. Excellent choices both. Full of flavor and the Cod, lightly fried I believe, just right. Cool atmosphere and excellent music. Order at the counter and they deliver the food to your table. You’re in charge of busing your table.
Informal dining, with counter ordering, indoor and outdoor space. I enjoyed the "Tortilla Tuesday" special, getting all three tacos: chicken, beans, and beef, which made a nice lunch.

We ordered for takeaway but ended up eating at the cute outdoor dining picnic benches in the back. Food was exactly what we were looking for - healthy and tasty. We got the kaaterskill bowl, poke bowl, and a beef taco. The taco was great - would definitely order again and try some of the others - but was overflowing and we ate it with a fork (may be bc of takeout). The bowls were both generous portions and fresh ingredients.

We got 2 Burgers and it was both a blast from the past and a clean modern take. Very simple and full of flavor. like something you'd get at a drive-in spot back in the 50s. clean and thoughtful with every ingredient that went into the food. As a chef I love everything about what they're doing!

Serendipity! We wandered into The Mermaid while taking a break from driving on vacation. Hubs had the most delicious rice bowl with black beans and greens, The créma, guacamole, and salsa added layers of flavour. I had a small burger with cheddar. It had to be the best I’ve had in ages: fab roll, fresh beef, a gorgeous hunk of tomato, greens, and a bit of the house créma. It gave this burger a delicate taste that makes it a star. Great friendly cafe!

I don’t understand their food. Their Love&Peace bowl is like Mexican but the tofu is dressed in like sushi-style sauce and the veggies do not compliment the bowl. Their Bianca Bowl is another one where it’s Miso ramen, with veggies that some pickled and some raw and the Nori sheet is the one that you use for sushi rolls that is just folded. Overall it’s a confusing taste.

A rare gem where the location's vibe truly matches the quality of the restaurant's output: fantastic. The staff were lovely and the decor is out of this world. We stumbled upon this place on a whim and were blown away with the quality and vibrance of downtown Catskill. I was skeptical of the 'metal sauce' alongside many other seasonings in the burrito, but it really brings it all together. A must visit if you're in the area!
Such a cute little cafe! Besides food and drinks, they also sell some jewelry, face masks, book marks, and various other trinkets. There’s free tap water as well.

Searched Healthy Food in Catskills and mermaid café came up it was amazing everything is fresh. I was so pleased! The place is small and fresh to order so allow time. It is worth the time and money. I started to eat before I took the picture, it was that good.

I ate at Mermaid for the first time today. As I am a vegetarian that eats a little fish from time to time, I am always looking for a restaurant that produces high quality and tasty vegetarian dishes. Mermaid has some really tasty vegetarian dishes. I had the Thunberg. It has Roasted Root Veggies, Pickled Veggies, Seeds, Guacamole, Scallions, Greens, Hot Sauce. Very tasty and very satisfying. It’s a one dish meal that can take you from a late lunch into the evening without eating dinner. If I were to be picky about anything, the decor of Mermaid is not very impressive. But it makes sense when you think about the town of Catskill. I highly recommend the Mermaid Cafe and will be returning soon.
