This quaint little Venezuelan restaurant serves amazing and authentic tasting food with native music played softly to enhance the experience. Staff is attentive and aims to please. The space is cozy and comfy. I love it there

Just no. That's all I can say. Just no. For the love of god please never order from this place. $10 for 4 dry yucca fries, soggy mushy greasy patecons with extra dry meat. Saltless French fries. Over $100 for food that a garbage disposal would reject.

I like it a lot. I know it's not the same, but it brings me a lot of memories of my hometown food every time I go. I recommend it, even if you're venezuelan, or not.

My favorite Venezuelan restaurant! It’s so cozy inside too, reminds me of my beautiful country. Perfect for casual dates, well for any occasion really. Food is amazing, Highly recommend their tequeños with guasacaca, and arepas!

I understand it's covid season and many business are struggling. But hygiene is not an exception. Me and my wife thought of having Latin cuisine and decided on El Cocotero. When we got there, nobody was around to seat us so I walked inside and the gentleman at the front greeted me with an attitude and raised his voice (I thought that's how he was) so I brushed it off. Was sat at our table, thinking margarita the cocktail meaning was limited. We decided on two sangrias and tap water. I'm sorry I didn't make a scene because of the disgust and disrespect I felt when our water and sangrias came. My wife spotted a roach in the water, tiny but glad she saw it. Not even that, as I was stirring my drink I see another one. My wife calmly told the server about what we just found because there were others already eating. He apologized and we left. I dont think hygiene is an exception to the health department. I apologize again but someone can get really sick all because negligence from the owners.

Mediocre food. The owner was not interested in recommending what to order. Won't be back.

No stars. When we went to sit we noticed the table looked dirty. When we mentioned this to the waiter, he said loudly. "It is NOT DIRTY!: He then proceeded to pretend to wipe the table with a dry napkin (ummmm isn't there a PANDEMIC happening?). We left and walked down the block to Westville where we were greeted warmly and asked to wait a moment so they could sanitize the table and chairs before we sat. We had a great meal.

The food here was fantastic. I got the pernil sandwich and it was delicious. The empanadas were great too, even though I only got to eat 1/2 because everyone else at the table ate them. We took my girlfriend's family, who is Dominican, and her mother approved everything! So you know it's good! We also tried their sangria and a mango alcoholic drink, both were pretty good! Outdoor seating only right now, so I didn't get to look inside the restaurant, but service was really good! You should definitely try, even for brunch, if you're looking for something a bit different and authentic.

This place is an absolute waste if you like traditional tequeños. They charged me $7.50 for 4 that are all less than 2inches long when the traditional tequeños are at least 4 inches or longer. From today forward I will take the train from Manhattan to Tu Cachapa 4195 Broadway NY, NY 10033 it’s worth a trip from Manhattan. And they’re $1.75 each. Totally disappointed. The best part of this experience was the kindness of the owner.
