I am a disabled with a service dog. He is a wonderful dog and clearly wears a jacket showing he is an "Active Medical Service Dog". He is extremely well trained. When we came in and sat down the waitress asked for our dog's ID. We correctly told her that the ADA and New York State Law specifically says that no ID is required. She walked away and would not serve us. Then the manager came over and again asked for the ID. I tried to hand her the law but she refused to take it or even read it.
So, we called the Chester Police to help. They came and were excellent. They said they told the manager that they need to become familiar with the laws. We will be reporting this to the ADA and hopefully, action will be taken against them for their illegal actions. We did finally eat. The food was mediocre at best.
Then upon leaving we offered the manager the law again and again she refused to accept it. I asked her if she will now follow the law and she said she will do what the owner says. Well the owner does not make the laws. It is pretty clear, that they probably will continue to ignore the law and be hostile to disabled customers with service dogs.
When businesses restrict serving the disabled because they have a service dog, it is degrading to the disabled and show no respect to their customers or to the word of law.
I hope that everyone even if not disabled will take their unlawful conduct into consideration and go to other places to eat that have respect and consideration for the disabled and actually follow the laws.

I was surprised it was very quiet for a subday at supper time...I was passing thru .Place looked clean. Waitress (Nelly)was very friendly. I got the new chester burger, was pretty good I like menu items with a twist..Also got choc mouse gor home cause I was stuffed that was also delicious...Definitely stop again if I was up there

Chester diners one of my hotspots to go to with the family and my girlfriends I get to enjoy a drink a Oh strawberry Mojito is my favorite and we enjoy cocktail’s weekdays for seven dollars a drink and a good vibe here.

I had an outstanding experience thanks to Nelson’s incredible service. He was professional, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. It’s rare to come across a place whit such great food and service . I truly appreciated the attention to detail and the positive energy this establishment brought. Highly recommend Nelson he made a great impression and deserves recognition! Would definitely come back burgers where out of this world!!!!

Fantastic breakfast menu. Omelets , eggs , pancakes all fantastic you won't leave hungry or broke. Discount if you pay with cash. Friendly waitresses kept my coffee cup filled. The staff worked as a team and made for an enjoyable dining experience. Restrooms were clean and poop worthy. If your hungry and want breakfast the new Chester diner is the place.

Awesome spot with quality dishes across the menu. Staff is friendly. Really loved the Giant Burrito. Good option for kids. Limited beer and wine.
Parking: Small lot. Wasn't sure if there were spots out back, but the lot behind has a lot of No Diner Parking signs.

We ordered two grilled sirloin steaks, it seems that they put them in the microwave, they gave us meat with a bad smell and even so the Italians said that the meat was good, the fettuccine in Alfredo SOS had too much EGG, we do not recommend this place, the strawberry milkshakes with milk were the worst.
A bit old and needs a refresh, but the food is great!

Definitely an upgrade from a visit a couple of years ago. Service was great. Nice choice of lunch specials. The meatloaf was a great choice and the chicken cordon bleu was a nice sandwich. We will return.
