Having spent a long day hiking, I had been hoping for filling, satisfying food and was frankly left disappointed by Cold Spring Depot.
While their brussel sprouts were delicious and their beer list was impressive, the other dishes I ordered were severely underwhelming.
Their double burger lacked depth of flavour, had an untoasted bun, didn’t have enough sauce and was more expensive than many burgers in New York.
The French Onion soup was similarly watered down and had no real flavour, despite being such a simple soup to make and master.
It is so disappointing to see a restaurant serving such mediocre and skippable dishes for such exorbitant prices. Especially when the atmosphere is so charming and the staff so friendly.

Not crazy about the food or the menu. Service was very good and I liked the atmosphere. The Amtrak trains add a bit of fun when it screams by.

COLD SPRING DEPOT! What an incredible find on beautiful Putnam County NY Autumn Day! Food, beverage selection, service amazing! Very Cool to see MetroNorth Hudson Line train buzz by. Eat at bar, inside to avoid long lines. Hummus Salad and home made Naan bread is out of the world! Grab a delicious Hudson Valley Cider. Train home will be incredibly satisfying!

Service was kind but fairly slow. Burger was fine but nothing to write home about.

Nice outdoor space (right next to metro north tracks if that doesn’t bother you) and dog friendly! Burgers were solid and good portions. Brussel sprouts were so good (trying to replicate the flavor at home) and truffle fries were great hot. Definitely a good choice if you’re in the area.
Free public parking spots right in front of the restaurant but they were all taken by the time we visited. Metered street parking wasn’t too bad.

Waiter was rude, no substitutes for allergies and the food left a lot to be desired. There are plenty of other options in the area, stay away from here.
Garlic truffle burger with friends after breakneck hike. Brussel sprouts were good too.

Great place to refuel after a beautiful day of hiking. The veggie burger was absolutely massive and depot sandwich was pretty solid. I loved having a refreshing cold cut sandwich after our hot day of hiking. That paired with a cold beer, chef kiss haha. Plenty of outdoor seating right next to the train stop. If you’re dining with fur babies just beware the train does fly by right next to the seating area which may be loud and startling for them. But for us was fun watching them go by.
Vegetarian options: Only main veggie dishes are salads and the veggie burger.
Wheelchair accessibility: Main seating area was ground level. No stairs.

After hiking the Breakneck Ridge to Mt. Beacon Fire Tower trail, we were exhausted from the 9.7 miles 7-hour adventure. The hike burned over 2000 calories, so we pigged out at Cold Spring Depot.
It’s a good restaurant right after we entered Cold Spring from the train station. The waitress was very nice. My husband got a beer and enjoyed it after a day of hard work. I loved the steam mussels, the tomato sauce was so delicious. I was surprised that they offer this dish. The wings, steak club sandwich were tasty. The hot chicken sandwich was tasty for my husband but just decent for me. I usually don’t like fried food, but after the difficult hike, I need some more calories to recover.
Overall, Cold Spring Depot was a nice place to dine in.
