great experience here!
It was an unseasonably busy day, and they were busier than they were prepared for. They were out of a couple of the specials, but the food was good. The home fries were so good! They waitress was a little snotty when we ordered and made a snide sounding comment. She also made a face when I asked to switch the type of cheese. However, I would go back but maybe sit in a different waitress section.
Great little cafe near Cooperstown Dreams Park
Awesome place! Great food & the Staff is so nice!
Perfect little breakfast place but they serve all meals and has a cute little bar. Served immediately and can’t say enough about the amazing service and food was great!
5/5 Stars – A Cozy, Honest Breakfast Spot in the Heart of Cooperstown
We had a wonderful breakfast at Doubleday Café and walked away genuinely impressed with the entire experience. It’s a charming, welcoming spot right in the heart of town—clean, friendly, and refreshingly down-to-earth. It feels like one of those places that knows exactly what it is and doesn’t try too hard, which is part of the appeal.
The service was warm and efficient without being overbearing. We were seated quickly, coffee came fast, and our meals were out in a reasonable time—even with a healthy morning crowd. I ordered an omelette, and it was just right: perfectly cooked, with fresh ingredients and a good balance of flavor. It’s easy for a simple breakfast dish to be forgettable, but this one hit all the right notes.
One thing we really appreciated was the pricing. With so many tourist-heavy spots around, it’s easy to expect a bit of sticker shock—but not here. Everything felt fairly priced, especially considering the quality and the location.
Overall, the vibe of the place is what will bring us back. It’s laid-back but thoughtful, and it has the kind of energy that makes you want to linger just a little longer over your coffee. Whether you’re heading to the Hall of Fame or just looking for a solid breakfast in Cooperstown, Doubleday Café is a great choice. Highly recommend stopping in—you won’t be disappointed.
Came here for breakfast waiting for the baseball Hall of Fame to open up which is right next door. You won't be disappointed.
Have the number for two eggs, sausage patty, French toast. OMG I am stuffed. The prices are so reasonable compared to other tourist areas. Come early find, parking early, have breakfast and enjoy main Street while you're dining in one of the best cafes of Cooperstown. ( For Breakfast)
A great find in Cooperstown for breakfast or lunch. We tried both on a Monday ( closed for dinner Sun-Mon )
Highly recommended 🥰
Went for lunch yesterday, and it was so good that we went for breakfast this morning.
Food is really good, atmosphere is hectic, service is a bit slow and not very interactive (but most likely because of the steady stream of business); be patient when you visit.

I was recently at Double day , as I have been many times. I walk in at 10:35 a.m. sat at the bar and the bartender informed us that breakfast was over . Even though it states 11:00 a.m. on the menu. We were told that lunch started at 11:00 a.m. So we decided to wait. We sat at the dirty bar , still filthy from the patrons before us. As of 11:15 we still were unable to order , I politely asked for the check to pay for our drinks and she responded “what did guys expect we wouldn’t have to wait” . I would in the past recommend this place, now I would not tell anyone to go. Completely unprofessional and a fail! Plenty of places to spend my money , one place won’t be the Double Day!
After a wonderful visit to the HOF, I decided to see if to go was available , since me wife and fellow travelers ate while I remained at the hall. At 2:35 pm I inquired about to go sandwich and was told to go to the bar to order. After a few minutes the bartender came over and I wanted to order. The first thing she said was “I’ll see, our kitchen closes at 3 pm .I asked, expecting one order could be done in 25MINUTES . She didn’t ask what I wanted or cared that I wanted a sandwich to go.Their business must be so great , they don’t care . Customer Service is not Hall of Fame level in this minor league cafe.
A classic restaurant in the heart of downtown Cooperstown. A family run business with great staff that has been together for many years. Guests fortunate enough to get a table at this busy eatery will experience one of the best meals they have all year! Top shelf food and incredible servers. I can't say enough about the quality of this thirty year establishment.
