As someone who remembers the Inkwell in Long Branch and was there for the opening of Small World Coffee in Princeton, I am so happy I found this shop. I stopped in while waiting for my mom to get off the train, just looking for some wi-fi and place out of the over 100 degree heat and was incredibly happy to find this spot. The staff was very pleasant, patient and enthusiastic. I ended up ordered a cortado with real (yes real) maple syrup. Hallelujah - proportions were perfect! Coffee was delicious and full-bodied without bitterness- worthy of pretentious coffee snobs! The place itself is warm with places to work and places to relax. I wish it were closer to home but I will be back! I might drive up here for the cortado alone. Please support this local spot not just because its local - but because it is excellent! And I want it here when I return.

**Worth every. single. dollar. Life is short. Buy excellent coffee!**

Really incredible coffee shop with a cute indoor space! I tried the iced black peach tea with lemonade and it was one of the most refreshing drinks I’ve ever had. Check this place out if you’re in the area!

The cocomel latte is one of the best lattes i’ve ever had. Highly suggest! Incredibly friendly service and the space is so cute to just hang out in. Wish this was closer to nyc so I could go more often :,)

Matters Coffee is truly my favorite coffee shop! The quality of their coffee is unmatched. I always find myself comparing others coffee to theirs and have yet to find anything comparable. The staff is absolutely amazing, incredibly helpful and since I first walked in, I felt as if I was visiting friends. Over time, they've gotten to know my preferences and are always more than happy to craft something up especially for me, which I genuinely appreciate.

I always bring my friends when they visit for the weekend and I've even bought boxes of their coffee for my relatives and they all love it. Honestly, this place is more than just a coffee shop to me, it's a little home away from home.

I can't recommend Matter Coffee enough!

I'm really disappointed. I've always had very nice espresso drinks at this place, but today I got an iced coffee that was so thin and watery it was barely drinkable — it was worse than a diner iced coffee! I expected better from them. I quickly took all the ice out to avoid it getting any more watery, and they'd put so much ice in, without it I was left with barely 2 inches of coffee in the cup. An absolutely unreasonable amount of coffee for almost $5.

I had a very disappointing experience at Matters Coffee. After placing my order, I politely asked for extra cold foam. Instead of simply accommodating the request or informing me kindly of any additional charge, I was met with unprofessional behavior from the staff. I began to feel uncomfortable as employees stared and spoke about me in hushed tones. Then, one of the workers loudly called out, “Next time you want extra cold foam, let us know before we check you out,” in a tone that felt more like a scolding than customer service. On top of that the coffee was already $11.

Trying to be respectful, I approached the register and offered a dollar to cover the foam. But as I was leaving, I overheard more unnecessary commentary from the staff, asking, “Did she say anything?” and continuing to talk about me. This experience was incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Customer service should be about kindness and communication, not public shaming. I won’t be returning.

Friendly service and delicious coffee. I enjoyed the extra large caramel latte. We were visiting from out of town and Holden made the experience enjoyable and provided excellent customer service.

My wife and I's go-to for local coffee! We are, admittedly, latte snobs, and so far, Matters is the one to beat!

The shop is cozy and atmospheric, particularly on a rainy afternoon like today. All the staff are wonderful people, including the baseball-capped owner, who always has a quick joke up his sleeves. They have plenty of seating both in the front and rear of the building, and there is always parking of some fashion either at the front of the building, or a short walk from the CVS parking lot. They carry an assortment of baked goods, in-house coffee beans, and a small clothing line. Best of all, they support other local businesses, such as Baked by Susan, and have given days of the week where they allow vendors to set up shop on site.

Yuli is one of the sweetest people we've ever met. She is always kind, smiling, and upbeat, regardless of the day. Just seeing her smile makes our day!

Whenever it is that we are to leave the Croton area, saying goodbye to Matters and their amazing staff will be a very hard thing to do, indeed.
