Crab stuffed mushrooms were terrible, French fries over cooked, service and prime rib was good

The French fries were overcooked. the stuffed mushrooms with crab meat was more of a paste and couldn't taste the crab meat. Steak was good .

We were riding along the NEBDR when we stumbled upon the Old Schoolhouse Inn & Restaurant. We originally went for just for dinner and were very impressed with everything they had to offer. We asked if they had any rooms available and they did so we decided to stay. The room was in immaculate condition and extremely clean. Couldn’t be more happy to find this gem along the route!

We had a great dinner here. Just exploring the details of beautifully restored building and the taxidermy on the walls was worth a stop in. The food was very good. Salad bar was typical but a nice add on to the meal. They had steak and seafood options on the menu, but the hamburgers were from a local ranch so we opted for burgers. They were excellent and very recently priced. And cooked perfectly. You can get a 6 ounce or 12 ounce size. Six ounces probably fine for most people. I got the 12 ounce and it was more than I needed after a delicious appetizer, but having some the next day was a treat. The french fries were seasoned and above average.
There is a bar and a pool table, which looks like it’d be a nice way to spend some time, but we were in the dining area. They had some drink specials and a nice selection of beer. Wine options were disappointing so I the shows ommegang three philosophers beer to go with my burger. I am a fan of this brew, and I am rarely “local” to the brewery.

stopped by on the way home after a real estate trip to Delhi. The 4 of us all had varying burgers, and we were all in agreement that they were among the best we've ever had.
Beer was ice cold and fries were fresh and hot. Service was great too.
Dining area is a sight to behold.

First time dining there. Prime special was overcooked for the 3 of us that ordered it. Should have sent them back but we were starving. Rest of meals were prepared correctly. Wait staff friendly and efficient. Decor definitely worth the visit. Will be back for drinks at the bar and see more of the decor and order appetizers.
