I’ve passed by many times but never tried before. After the gym today I figured it was the best opportunity to try. The lady at the front was very kind and helpful. I ended up trying the loco moco and spam musibi and they were both delicious. I can’t wait to come back and try more from here!

we’ve been coming to honolulu hawaiian bbq for about a year now. & every time they never miss! consistent flavor and portions. this is by far the only place on the island that comes remotely close to the flavors we had in hawaii. one plate alone is enough for two meals for me! the loco moco is similar to my favorite loco moco in liliha bakery in oahu!

Was looking for a new place in the neighborhood to grab some food. Came across this place and the people were so nice, the food is cooked fresh to order so takes an extra few minutes and the taste took me right back to Honolulu, you can practically smell the sun tan lotion and hear the pounding waves on the North Shore.

I would definitely come back here again but to try the other dishes.

The family shared the Loco Moco (of course) because it's a Hawaiian staple meal - practically a right of passage dish. The eggs were cooked perfectly, a tad runny and the meat was tender, covered in gravy. Yes, not exactly the healthiest of eats, but dayam it made my taste buds do the lambada (yup, the forbidden dance in my mouth) and gravy was salty and so friggin unctuous but when eaten over the scoop of hot white rice, it's just a beautiful mix of bite that you wonder how you ever survived without it. And the scoop of sweet mayo based macaroni salad is so ridiculously soft that it practically melts in your mouth (not in your hand). The Mixed Grilled Meats comes with fresh cuts of grilled chicken, teriyaki beef, and beef short ribs. Perfectly grilled to order with scoops of rice and macaroni salad again. No need to describe the sides again because I don't want to sound like a creepy serial guy with some kind of a weird food fetish. The Salmon Teriyaki (sauce on the side by request from my wife) was also cooked well with a little char on the outside but still moist because you can see the glisten even with low dinner lights.

The portions are very generous, if you eat your meal with the rice (and it's practically sacrilegious not to), there is enough to save half for a second meal.

I washed it down with a Lychee Hawaiian drink over ice which was perfect. I diluted it a bit with some water so it wasn't too sweet. Woohoo! The entire meal was like taking a trip to Hawaii without getting on a 12 hour flight and of course without getting lei'd. Sweet, will be back again but not too soon, absence maketh the heart and stomach grow fonder. Eating here too many times a week would potentially maketh the stomach and hips groweth a little rounder.

Do yourself a favor, and make sure you give this place a shot. But if there is a line next time I go, I will be disappointed for myself, but happy for the owners.

Small Restaurant that dishes out - 10/10

Visited with some friends and shared a few plates. Let me tell you the Chicken and Beef in the top portion of the picture were 11/10.

Portions are hefty, good amount of sides, flavor game is top tier. Would highly recommend. Surprised it wasn't packed, this place deserves it.

To finish off, service is great. Hospitable environment, and just overall good people.

It's definitely a must try for those looking for new food options!
