I'd definitely give Jake's 5 stars all around, especially when taking into account the cost of the meal. I've eaten at many steakhouses in Nassau and all over NYC and for the price it's Jake's for the win. Drinks, steaks and sides were very good. No tables jammed in next to one another, no crowd, no noise. Just appropriate volume in the music. Attentive service, glass of wine promptly replaced when we accidentally spilled it. Next time I'll leave room for dessert and add that to the review.

Second time this restaurant gives diners check assuming they are paying with credit card, essentially extra charge. We had to ask for another check, since we were paying cash. Be careful when you dine there.
Only a quarter of the tables at Jake's were occupied during our meal, but the service was slow and inattentive. We had to ask for a wine menu and it took 15 minutes to arrive. We weren't asked if we wanted coffee with dessert and the waitress did not come back after the busboy served it. I ordered the Braised Short Ribs and they were over cooked and dry. The price of our wine on the bill was $2 per glass more than on the wine list, not including the surcharge for credit cards. Overall as disappointing experience.
