This place is not good at all! I give 2 stars because the parking is good and the service is also good. The people behind the register are nice. However, the adobo chicken and the beef stew in the halal section were absolutely atrocious. I’m unsure how they are serving halal meats next to where they cook the pork meats ? I’m confused. However the restaurant inside is nicely decorated sharing itself alongside a small market of baked goods and other Filipino finds. I cannot recommend the food here as it was overcooked and way too salty and not good at all :(

An authentic Philippino experience. Not a glamorous high end restaurant but a real experience for good value. Enjoyed the food with friendly service

Rice was mushy. Food was oily. Small portions and lacking flavor. Like other reviewers mentioned, check your total for hidden charges.

Horrible horrible experience!! Raw chicken? Mushy rice? The chicken bbq was overcooked at the top and clearly, visibly raw in the bottom. The rice was mushy and just not how a Valenciana should be..

Kabayan Grill in East Meadow is where Filipino nostalgia meets cozy vibes and heartwarming hospitality. Walking in, you’re greeted by the delicious aroma of Filipino comfort food wafting from the turo-turo counter, where steamy trays of viands sit, ready to tempt even the pickiest eater. The dining area is bright and charming, adorned with festive parols and clean white furniture that invite you to linger.

The crispy pata was the undisputed star—crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and paired perfectly with that tangy soy-vinegar dipping sauce. The Jeprox was a delightful surprise, a salty, crispy treat that transported me straight back to breakfast in the Philippines. And the lumpiang shanghai? Perfectly golden, stuffed generously, and made even better with the sweet chili sauce.

Beyond the food, Kabayan Grill stands out because of its people. The staff were warm and accommodating, making you feel like family, and the manager—a cheerful presence behind the counter—was the epitome of Filipino hospitality. He made sure everyone was well taken care of, a touch that elevated the experience from good to great.

Whether you’re here for a hefty meal or to stock up on Filipino breads like pan de sal and cheesy ensaymada, this place hits all the right notes. Kabayan Grill doesn’t just feed you; it reminds you why Filipino food feels like home.

I hired Kabayan to cater my husband’s 40th birthday, and I couldn’t be happier with their food and service! They handled everything seamlessly, from setting up the buffet table to cleaning up afterward. The lechon was exceptional—crispy skin and juicy, flavorful meat.

The party was from 12:30 to 4:30 PM, and while they usually arrive an hour before the event, the owner, Cherry, graciously accommodated my request to come two hours early so I’d have ample time to arrange my tablescapes. The food arrived separately, 30 minutes before the party, ensuring it was warm and fresh when served.

Everyone loved the food (and the take-home goodies!), and the service was fantastic. Special shoutout to their server, Reggie! Cleanup was quick and thorough, leaving nothing to worry about.

At just $28 per person, the price was incredibly reasonable, especially compared to hosting at a restaurant. I highly recommend Kabayan’s full catering service for anyone looking to simplify hosting a large gathering without compromising on quality.

DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!!! My dine in experience was that of rudeness, stubbornness, and disrespect. First off I was scolded by an employee for simply having my drink close to the edge of the table for a split second as I was rearranging to make room for the food. Then once the bill came around it made clear that the prices were not as advertised on the menu. As the bill was said to be $68 and not the $54 which was reflected off the menu pricing. Once this issue was brought up to the same said employee he began to cite that it was a tax issue and that the menu was just old and we had been charged right. Which in any case if the prices are to be updated then that should be reflected on said menu. He then proceeded to down play the issue and imply that my partner “should have learned taxes in school”. Never have I had such a rude and disrespectful service provided to anyone in my life and not to mention to be scammed as well. Down right shameful

SCAMMED!! Don’t waste your money!! Subtotal of dine in was supposed to be $54 but the total came out to $68!!! When I brought it up with the one in charge he was using excuses that it’s an “old menu” and prices weren’t updated. Then proceeded to say it was because of tax after I still insisted that he’s over charging me and wouldn’t admit he’s wrong. No tax has an extra $14 added onto the amount on top of the $5 tax already on the receipt! Unbelievable. Owner proceeded to ridicule me and ask, “didn’t you learn that in school?”. Even before that he was serving us in such a rude tone and scolding us. Horrible service, this business does not do honest work and he must not live an honest life. Sad

The small building was cute, and I liked the arch windows. Has a parking lot. Partly a store.
Pretty tight inside. Tables were back to back, side to side, with just enough space to walk through. Definitely not wheelchair accessible.
Food can be ordered from the menu (which has similar menu layout as other Kabayans) or pick from the assortment of prepared food (turo-turo) which we did. Combo prices seemed ok - but food was mostly meh 2.5 rating. Bistek was fine, tender beef. Mongo was watery, though tasted ok. Laing was salty. Pork bbq was dry and had some chewy pieces. Didn't like the texture of the sago in the Sago drink, which was forgotten and had to ask for it- price is $1 more than on the menu, so not sure how accurate the menu is.
Some pre-packaged baked goods/grocery items. A couple of the dining tables were filled with some.
Spacious restroom in the back, via a tight hallway which had store items on one side.
Service was good.
