Fantastic food. I got the chicken stew which turned out to be two chicken legs cooked in a rich broth with potatoes and peppers maybe? Served with rice and a cup of stewed pinto beans that were incredible flavorful. Husband had beef burritos with red sauce, also with beans and rice.
The spot isn’t fancy, I wouldn’t want it to be. Just good, solid food and really nice people.

The music was a little loud but I ordered takeout so I didn't stay long but the food is really authentic Mexican food . It was delicious, the only real complaint was the portion were smaller then what it looked like in the picture.

First impression is everything even if the food isn’t available that day. Walked in and told they were closed for lunch/food on the 4th of July; tho the bar was open? I guess they have a big bar there at first glance. The woman at the bar scoffed like I was stupid for walking in on a holiday and a few kids at the bar did the same. I get it, but we are in NY and many many things are open on the 4th. Will see if that’s a consistent thing with service next time. Just note that google was incorrect saying they were open for food on a holiday for lunch. Being small family owned not surprising as it is hit or miss In The small towns. So we grabbed Mexican in Pittsford instead. Will hit this place up for a formal review next time as I do want to see how their empanadas compare! People have been worried since the change over so I will make sure you get a full and comprehensive review from the inside out. Thank you to those who look at my reviews for an honest review on local eats!

Great place for karokee, and the food is great as well. Drinks nice and strong!
Kid-friendliness: Took my kids here during the day. They enjoyed the food and karokee.

My wife, my baby and I saw the signs about the Spanish food East Rochester and wanted to give it a try. We entered a dive bar, where the kitchen is in the back with a lovely cook taking out orders with a smile on her face.
The bar itself is a place I could find myself spending hours of my time at, getting to know the local East Rochester community while sipping on a genny red eye.
My wife and I are both vegetarian. The cook came out several times specializing our request and adding more vegetables she thought would accommodate our food. Everything was perfect and absolutely made with love and care of the cuisine at hand. I will be back to grab a beer, eat some empanadas and indulge in the atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and indulge as well.

East Rochester, New York, continues to grow as a foodie destination. Steve's Bar & Grill's new owners have created several amazing Spanish dishes. Eat in or take out. Generous portions, authentic ingredients (have a Corona; be patient, it's worth it) and a warm welcome. Say hi to Orlando, (from El Salvador) Daymara (from Cuba) and Grece (from Peru). Renovations are a work in progress but give them time; they had to get the kitchen up and running first). We thoroughly enjoyed their Tostones (fried crispy slices of green plantain bananas) with boiled Yuca (Cassava root) topped with red onions. Three stuffed shrimp tacos with fluffy yellow rice and tasty brown beans; followed with an empanada de carne (generously stuffed with beef; not like the ones you are used to being disappointed in after the first bite). Very reasonable pricing. If you like Hispanic food (or are willing to give it a try) you will not be disappointed.
Vegetarian options: Try the Tostones and Yuca!
Parking: Plenty of free street parking.
