Authentic Taiwanese fried pork chop and stinky tofu. It really hit the spot. I was surprised the rice dish didn’t come with an egg…. but still good.

The restaurant delivers a complete experience without gaps. The food at Taiwanese Gourmet makes me want to return quickly. The people working here have great attitudes. Staff members exceeded expectations and the place sits in an ideal area. I wish them continued operations.

Everything we got tasted just okay if not a bit on the bland and slightly sweet side, even though they were savory dishes. The service was minimal. Overall I was just disappointed because I was really looking forward to this place.

I'm not a Taiwanese food connoisseur but what I know is tasty food, and their shredded beef with scallion with a tad of spicy peppers is just amazing. Highly recommended!. I try to eat this particular dish everytime I'm around Elmhurst. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
Edit after a few years:
The shredded beef with scallions is still amazing. Try it!
Also make sure you try their three cup chicken and crispy fried chicken. Delicious!
Cash only!

My mom and I have come to this place and ordered 3 cup chicken, oyster pancake, fried pork chop, stinky tofu, and many others. The food is wonderful, and the service is fantastic. The atmosphere was there were many people in there, and many others.

The place is crowded, the seat is limited, and they don't take reservations.
They failed to notify me that one of my dishes wasn't available, and when I tried to make a follow-up order, I was again ignored multiple times.
Finally, the owner/waitress came out to confront me about why there isn't at least a 20% tip on the table 🤦♂️
Overall the experience is extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. As a Taiwanese who misses his home dish, this is disappointing.

i love the food here, their beef and chili hits every time and the crispy tofu is amazing. I love how silky it is on the inside while the outside has this perfect crunch. their vegeatables were fresh too.

Yeah.. TG is legit. Really delicious and great value Taiwanese dishes here. The crispy chicken stole the show for us today, but everything we ordered was very tasty (hefty portion sizes too). Will be back whenever I’m craving Taiwanese. Cash only.

First time trying this Taiwanese restaurant and it went way beyond our expectations!
We ordered so many dishes just the three of us and finished everything. 😆
The fried pork was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and the fried intestines were surprisingly clean and super tasty.
Every dish was full of bold, well-balanced flavors just like what you’d expect from authentic Taiwanese home cooking.
The restaurant has a cozy, homey vibe and to top it off, the staff were lovely and provided great service.
If you’re in the area, definitely give it a try — now we know why we couldn’t leave a single bite behind.

You'll find the experience matches or exceeds the reputation. Meals taste better with their fresh components. Knowing your regulars builds community. We walked in randomly and were glad we chose here. I'm truly eager to visit again.

Everything here was really good. The stinky tofu was one of the best I've had. The oyster pancake was the best I've had in the US. The table loved the fly head dish (chive flowers and pork). The scallops and loufa/winter squash was a big hit as well. The salty crispy chicken could have used more pepper but the texture was good. I can see why folks say this is the best taiwanese restaurant in NYC.
