Old style neighborhood ice cream shoppe. He was out of a lot of flavors from a busy day & we showed up late. But it was still hard to decide which kind to get. It's is Perry brand ice cream and we all liked it. After chatting with some other customers, we sat outside. I feel that Smarty is this generation's Pat.

Very neat, clean establishment. Stumbled across it on a random trip.Plenty of parking as well as indoor and outdoor seating.Owner was very personable and was outstanding at assisting with suggestions - more on that later.Menu is limited to BBQ chicken and associated sides, and the chicken is brined before cooking, so be prepared for a slightly different experience. The brining process leaves the chicken with an extremely delicious flavor and juiciness, but the skin doesn't get crispy like it normally would if it were done on a rotisserie.Sides are often so-so at many BBQ joints, but the salt potatoes (suggested by the owner) were treated with a delicious dose of garlic. Awesome!!!The in-house cooked baked beans were also better than most that I have had. Semi sweet flavor versus the bland out of a can beans that often accompany a BBQ chicken.Afterwards, we treated ourselves to some Perry's ice cream, which the owner also made a suggestion for improving the flavor of my choice, and he was right! I ordered the toasted coconut, he suggested the coconut dip, and it was amazing.Prices seem inline with everywhere else, and with the super clean and inviting atmosphere of Smarty's, we will definitely return.

I took my son and dog to get ice cream. Owner misunderstood my order and was rude and confrontational in front of my son and a lobby full of customers. If I am going to pay 17.50 for a soft serve twist, a dog sized ice cream dish, and a sundae, I would at least expect that owner would not make me feel uncomfortable when he misunderstood my order. I gave him a 3 dollar tip and was very polite despite his cranky demeanor. To the owner...basic food service...listen to order, repeat it back, then make it. And maybe smile. Be appreciative that you have business. Cheers

Great ice cream shop, run by a friendly gentleman who appears to genuinely enjoy serving ice cream and interacting with customers. They have bbq and sides as well, but we only tried the ice cream. We are from out of town and came here after riding the carousel at West Endicott Park, a few blocks away. Highly recommended.
