Wonderful ride on the ferry from Charlotte, VT to Essex, NY and the views are spectacular. Don’t expect the food to be any good as it is the poorest quality anywhere. Hostess was rude and clueless but our waitress was wonderful.
Go for the outing and enjoy the lake and views but order very little food, or eat before you go!🤪

We were a party of 9 coming off a sailboat, with our well-behaved dog, looking forward to a nice meal. Instead, we were met with excuse after excuse from the manager about why we couldn’t bring our dog to sit outside—despite the fact that there were plenty of empty tables. We were told it was an “insurance issue” and that they couldn’t seat us on the “dog side,” yet we saw both a service dog and another non-service dog allowed.

One of our group ended up having to stay on the boat with our dog. As travelers from Vermont and NJ, we’re used to restaurants welcoming dogs with open arms. In all our travels, we’ve never encountered such inflexibility or such an unwelcoming attitude toward pet owners.

The manager (possibly the owner) was not just unaccommodating, but extremely rude. Service overall was terrible—any food substitution requests were met with a flat “No.” For a restaurant that was empty on a Monday, you’d think they would value customers.

We own a food business in NJ and pride ourselves on going out of our way to accommodate guests. This place could learn a lot about hospitality. Dog lovers—beware. We will not be back.

Whoever the older woman was who was hosting last night (august 10) was the most miserable, rude, and unwelcoming human being I have ever met. We had a reservation through google assistant but she looked at me like I was nuts when I said we had a reservation. She somehow didn’t write us in and couldn’t sit us. Offered no apology or alternative options. All she said was “no”. Clearly they do not want anyone to dine there. That woman should seriously consider a career change. Perhaps Dutch digger or working in a bottle redemption center. I have never been treated like that by anyone, anywhere. If she’s the owner, stay away. If she is just an employee, she really needs to be let go immediately. Spent $80 on the ferry ride over as well.

It’s a gorgeous spot and that is what you’re paying for. It’s honestly a shame they can’t do better with the food and service. The food was extremely overpriced and it was not good. The service was very slow and there were no apologies for how slow it was. It took forever for anyone to take our order and we waited a solid hour for our food.

This establishment is right on the water, and you can watch ferries come and go. I had the clam and corn chowder, which was delicious.

Beautiful spot, but essentially not very good deli food (store bought rolls and cold cuts) at restaurant prices ($20 usd per dish per lunch).

The food wasn't great. My dirty martini was a glass of gin with one olive and I sent it back, my chicken parm cutlet was over-done, and the meat on my black and blue salad was overcooked and tough. However, the waitstaff was friendly and doing their best, and the spot is gorgeous.

The food was good and the wait staff were excellent. We sat outside in the shade with a wonderful view of the lake. The fish and chips were delicious and the coleslaw was very tasty!

The price was good for vegetable sandwich, carrot and celery plus bread and butter in the side. And 5 bucks for side of squash and veggies. Food tasted bad like it was in a refrigerator. service was cool,

Ate near end of season. Fish and chips were really good. Fresh and light. Ordered spinach and artichoke dip and they made it special for us even though they were technically out of it and gave it to us free. To me that shows good customer service. Despite it being, literally, the only restaurant open in town, we didn't feel like we had to "settle". Food was good, staff friendly, and the view spectacular.
