I happened to stumble into this area after work and I was surprised to see a Filipino restaurant so deep in Long Island, I love Filipino food so much that I wanted to check it out. It is so close to the Ronkonkoma train station so the commute was easy. When we walked in we were surprised to see how beautiful the interior of the restaurant was. The chairs and tables were white, and it looked super fancy. When we got the menus we were surprised to see that our favorite Filipino food was super affordable, we got the Chicharon Bulkalak (deep fried pig intestine), the Lechon Kawali (fried pork belly), Sisig Pork with Egg, and a large order of Garlic Fried Rice. Each item we got was super tasty and delicious and extremely affordable (everything came out to just $53 for 2 people and a LOT of leftover food to take home). The waiter was also attentive and gave us a lot of iced water whenever we ran low. I loved how crispy the Chicharon and Lechon were, and the flavors of the Sisig were also unbeatable. I really enjoyed the mixture of pork flavor in that dish and the onions and bell peppers to really compliment each flavor. The waiter was also nice enough to give me the wifi password when we asked for it. The garlic rice was also really good- soo i highly recommend the garlic rice!! Will definitely be back to try the sinigang

I genuinely want to see Filipino restaurants thrive and succeed—and Kabayan Grill is a promising example. I ended up here by chance, after the restaurant next door didn’t have the dishes I was craving. Thankfully, Kabayan Grill did—and I gave it a shot and glad I did.

Here’s what stood out:

- Generous portions

- No credit card fees (a rare plus!)

- Excellent and efficient customer service

- Wait time was still long, but much more manageable than next door

- The space itself looks great and seems to be undergoing a stylish upgrade

As for the food—while the taste from next door might have a slight edge, Kabayan Grill isn’t far behind at all. The overall experience makes me want to come back, and I hope the quality stays consistent or even improves.

If they fine-tune the flavors just a bit more, this place will absolutely gain a loyal following—I’ll be one of them. Honestly, both Kabayan Grill and its neighbor outperform a lot of the Filipino spots I’ve tried in Queens, which, sadly, have gone downhill lately.

So give this place a try—you won’t be disappointed!

Food was amazing; it wasn't busy. But the staff were very lackadaisical. Had to wait forever just to pay our bill

My first trip to this restaurant was on a Sunday evening around 630pm. There was only one other table here already eating so we were a bit hesitant. We were seated immediately and brought menus.
Our first impression was that the restaurant was very clean and inviting. The menus had pictures which is especially helpful when eating food with names in a different language.
The water pitcher looked slightly different and took a second to figure out how to use it. Nifty little device “no spoilers here”.
The food came out in large portions and was absolutely delicious. We got lumpia, pansit and beef soup. Everything was hot and full of flavor. We have a friend from the Philippines and everything was on par or slightly better (sorry Penny) than home cooked Filipino food.
10/10 would dine again.

Food and service was wonderful! Food was seasoned perfectly. The Beef Balolu was a generous portion, and my side order of garlic rice was a yummy addition to the soup.

I Ordered a rice noodle dish with chicken and shrimp. It had no flavor and the shrimp were the little baby shrimp from a can. The chicken was gray and grisly. I couldn’t eat it. Also the service is really slow. I would not go back.
