Very disappointed with my last experience. The Anvil signature sandwich had more roll than prime rib for the price. While the French fries had a good flavor and were not over fried, there were not many. The environment is great and the fireplace makes it cozy for family dining.

My spouse stated his prime rib was terrible, but I thought my seafood dish was okay. Our waiter also made a mistake on our bill.Quite Annoying.

Absolutely the best dirty martini I’ve had in this area, and amazing food every time without fail. The service is always on point too! This is worth a trip to Fort Edward!

My seafood meal was decent but husband said his prime rib was horrible. Our waitress also couldn't get our bill right. Very frustrating.

I absolutely loved this place! The vibe is very intimate, the restaurant is dimly lit with soft yellow light creating a cozy space. The service was exceptional, the staff all seemed kind and helpful. Our sever was attentive. I had the filet mignon medium rare, although the cut itself was excellent, I was disappointed b/c my steak was way over cooked. It was more medium well than medium rare. These steaks take a while to cook, and even though I did eat it anyway I did not enjoy it. I was really looking forward to a bloody steak with hot red center and that is not what I was served. These steaks are not cheap and for the price, I feel it should have been cooked to my requested specifications. My fiancé and his family dine here regularly and have told me getting an over cooked steak happens quite often. So just keep that in mind, if you come here. Other than that everything was great! I also had the shrimp and scallops w/ garlic sauce, I definitely recommend this dish. And for dessert the bread pudding!

WE WILL NEVER go to the Anvil Inn again!!! After $75 in appetizers and drinks while asking the waitress to allow some time before we ordered entrees, we asked to speak to a .anager about a menu item and the service. We were denied because "they don't have managers and the owner was busy bartending". We voiced our concerns with the server and she invited us to speak to the owner at the bar on the way out. As we were leaving we stopped at a quiet section of the bar and motioned him over. I got about three words out and he laid into us full force, enough for all the patrons in the place to hear. We were reprimanded by him for taking 45 minutes to order entrées. I didn't think this needed any explanation seeing that our bill was already about $75 before even ordering our main course but I tried to explain that it was our anniversary and we were enjoying an evening of dining out. His response was (at a loud voice) "I don't care if it's your anniversary". Kim had already left and by the time I got to the car she was in tears. NEVER AGAIN ANVIL INN! I hope someone can take control of this staple in my hometown community before this loose gun of an owner ruins it completely. He claims to be in the business for 34 years but he is 3rd generation and only at the helm for the past couple of years. Chatter around town is that he is destroying the family business and I agree!! After I asked him if it was worth the bad review, he yelled out YELP ME! So here it is here and on Yelp

Alot of the entrees have a cream sauce that is totally delicious. They give you enough to soak up with your potatoes and bread!
