Ordered off uber eats by accident-they’re advertised as a different spot as an empanada spot smh. They have poor reviews here and we can see why. Ordered 6 empanadas and disappointed is an understatement!

My husband and I are Dominican. We were feeling homesick so we decided to try this spot….
As Dominicans we take pride in our food, culture, music, and people. We didn’t experience any of that.
The food, 0 flavor, our mothers would roll over if they ever ate something like that (especially for that price). Where was the sofrito? The beans… canned, with half a cube of maggi, if you’re lucky. Rice… NO SALT!!
As bad as the food was, the music was even worse. Not a single bachata, típico, salsa, merengue, was played. Instead it was strange tuba music.
Service was fine.
Do not come here.

Don't go to this place, I don't recommend it at all. 1) the food was horrible, too much salt, 2) the lady's treatment was very abrupt, 3) they charge you for eating right there, 4) I ordered 1 soda and they charged me 3. I went to complain and it came out that it was for consuming inside the restaurant, 5) they charge you too much for the pepper steak.

The baked chicken was horrible really hard and had no seasoning in the food, in general had no taste to it. It was like if I just ate something plain. Oxtail was ok but again, had no seasons to it. The young lady at the service desk was very professional and nice but you need to put more seasoning in the food.I know what Dominican food is and this is not it i’de give it half a star if I could

This was the worst Spanish food I’ve ever had. The baked chicken was either old or over cooked because it was hard. The empanadas were horrible. The Yuka with onions was hard and had no flavor and not enough vinegar. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place!!!

I ordered a chicken soup from the restaurant with Uber Eats. The soup was absolutely delicious....BUT, there were about 7 noodles, 2 pieces of carrot one piece of chicken on a bone and that was it. It was very tasty but so skimpy. For $6, I expect some substance in my soup.

Some of the best Mangu I have had in a while and I’ve lived in the Bronx. Good spot lots of seating with a full far and full kitchen. Good music as well. Great spot to check out for eats and vibes.

Terrible! I went in person to order chicherrones and yellow rice and I got boneless chicken and when I got home I called and person that answered the phone said they were out of the pork chicherrones, but had they told me I would not have ordered !!!!!! Very deceptive!!!$ disgusting

We were looking for the original merengue restaurant knew what corner is on but we couldn't find it and we thought we were out of our minds for 2 minutes but we realized that it's now called Island Oasis the name changed and then food is the same the owners are the same and they said the name will be changed back as far as I know the drinks and food or five star me and my wife have a great time have a great atmosphere people and owner were very nice and polite and very interesting talking to them prices I bought two pieces of chocolate cake which were other than that everything
