The Pioneer Cafe in Glenfield is a true culinary gem with a warm local vibe and cooking that rivals top New York City spots. The omelettes alone are worth the drive from anywhere in the state. If you are coming from Canada, it is absolutely worth crossing the border for what may be the best homemade English muffins you will ever have.
Everything is done right. The English muffins are perfectly fluffy, never over salted or over buttered. The omelettes are filled with fresh vegetables that are cooked just right and balanced beautifully. Nothing feels heavy or rushed. It is simple food done at a very high level.
If you find yourself anywhere near Lewis County, make the trip. The Pioneer Cafe is easily one of the best diners in New York State and a place that deserves to be sought out.

My wife and I visited this establishment today for a quick lunch while out riding the trails with our side-by-side. We recently saw that they had just finished a new trail outback of the Pioneer Café so we wanted to check it out. I am so happy that we did. The wait staff was entertaining and the food was delicious. Very clean & friendly environment! Definitely going to make this a regular stop on our rides. Thank you again for such a good lunch!

Such a quaint little place! The servers were all super nice and seemed to share the workload, which I think is great. The food was delicious too- highly recommend the bang bang cauliflower. I would suggest management consider all day breakfast if possible - my husband & I got there at noon but hoped to be able to get breakfast and we heard two other customers ask about breakfast during our time there as well. Seems like it would be popular!
Loved this breakfast spot. First time here and I was very impressed, clean restaurant with very nice staff, great home made English Muffins. Huge shoutout to Megan and the staff for the great hospitality and food 🍲. Also, if you’re lucky to be the first visitor in their bathroom you will notice a very classy touch taught to me by one Megan!! Great touch Megan 👍👍👍👍

Little late on review, but went for Mothers Day. Was very busy! But the food and staff were lovely! Everything was delicious and the stuffed French toast was perfect!

Went in recently and watched a young server get absolutely disrespected by a table that clearly came in with an attitude. He was polite, stepped in to serve them, and handled their rude behavior better than most people would’ve. A small accident happened (coffee spilled, no big deal), and instead of letting him help after he told them he would go grab napkins they acted offended and cleaned it up themselves. He continued to check on them, and they ignored him… only to go leave a petty Google review later. The worst part? That one review got him fired. He works at another restaurant and we happened to get on the subject. One review. Over nothing. A review that was complaining about the place as a whole, not just the server. A hardworking young person lost their job because a couple of bitter people wanted to feel powerful on the internet. If this place is going to fire staff based on one customer’s tantrum, that says more about the management than the server. Do better. And out of all the terrible staff that works there, you picked him to fire? He had only been there a short time but was always great to talk to. Food was always amazing, but I will not be returning.
