While the food at Taj was good, the overall experience fell short of expectations. Despite making a reservation for 8:30 PM through OpenTable, we felt rushed from the moment we arrived. The waiter informed us that the kitchen was on its last call despite the restaurant accepting reservations until 9:00 PM. We hurried to order appetizers and dinner, and our food arrived promptly by 9:00 PM. However, we were then swiftly presented with the bill and pressured to pay, as the waiter was eager to close for the night. This rushed atmosphere made it difficult to enjoy our meal comfortably. As a business owner myself, I believe it's essential to provide honest feedback when service falls below expectations. Though we spent over $200, we left feeling disappointed and uncomfortable. I hope Taj can improve its service and create a more relaxed dining environment in the future. While I may consider giving it another chance, I would caution others to manage their expectations accordingly.
Tried Indian buffet for the first time at this place and was slightly disappointed. Limited vegetarian options, food was not hot and the taste was okay.

so in general it was disappointing ,, the folks were very nice and service fine ,,, i've been going to taj for years but it seems that there are new owners and a new chef ,, or at least a new chef ,, i thought the food was very mediocre ,, the chicken tikka was tough , the presentation. just ok ,, the muligatawny was not that flavorful ,, the saag also disappointing in terms of presentation , flavor and consistency ,, hopefully they can improve moving forward but definitely not on par with the previous ownership / chef situation
I am an Indian-American, born and raised and am honestly pretty harsh when it comes to Indian food. This place not only met expectations, it exceeded them and then some. Please get the Apollo chicken. It is so authentic and just honestly really well done. Everything, even the chicken Rogan Josh was incredibly flavorful. I will be coming back here many more times. Additionally, our waiter was one of the nicest people I have had the honor of meeting in the Albany area
