Old Fields Restaurant Greenlawn

This has been one of our favorite places for many years. The past year we have had a few Eh dishes and assumed it was just a fluke. Sadly, the menu has changed, dropping several of our favorites and our final experience consisted of 6/7 peoples meals being inedible. I’m rooting for a turn around. The ambiance is perfection! The staff is perfection! The food has taken a wrong turn. I will wait a few months and give it another try, only because I have loved this place for so long. I give this review not to be negative, but to provide feedback.

Table for 2 seated at around 7:45pm and out just after 9pm. My friend and I had Liv as a server, she was absolutely wonderful. Liv recommended the special salad, an incredible mix of tomatoes, fresh mozzarella arugula, perfectly toasted Pignoli nuts and the most amazing pesto sauce with a touch of balsamic. It was a nice portion to share. For entrees, I had the filet mignon au poivre with mashed and asparagus… perfectly prepared and not a spot on my plate in the end, same goes for the special tri tip steak with fingerling potatoes and broccolini. Our table avoided alcohol and Liv informed us all cocktails could be made as mocktails, super helpful. Although we didn’t partake in those, the unsweetened iced tea was delicious. Also, Liv was very knowledgeable about gluten free options and overall knowledgeable on the menu with recommendations and patience while we chatted up a storm without making decisions. 10/10 absolutely recommend a visit if you’re in the neighborhood or even close to the neighborhood. Certainly explains why they’ve been there for as long as they have.

Shrimp tasted like ammonia and crab cakes were extremely mushy.
Waitress was great! Way too loud in the back room(no,I am not OLD)
Manager should come to table when foods is not good!!!Don't leave it the waitress to fix the Chefs

Delicious food and great atmosphere. The mac and cheese has great texture and taste, and the creme brulee is topped with candied orange rinds! Many options were tempting. If I ever end up in this part of New York again, I'll give them another visit.

The food was great. We had the tuna app which was great. The burger was awesome as well. Fries were average. Should have gotten steak fries. Our waitress was great and friendly. Will definitely be back.

Been coming here for a long time and go home satisfied every time! My personal favorites are the old field burger and and the bone in rib-eye

Outstanding overall experience! Food was amazing, service top notch and what an authentic restaurant. Highly recommend you come and experience the skirt steak but so much more to taste.

Depending on what you like for noise level, consider asking for a table in the attached dining room if you can't handle loud conditions in the main bar area. Definitely call ahead for reservations as this place can get very crowded. The menu has some reasonably priced items such as a burger or a salad, but the price will get pretty high for their signature dishes such as fillet or marinated skirt steak. Our meal was $63 a person.
