Is the staff racist? I don’t know. Despite the 3.9 star avg review we decided to try for ourselves. Even with lowered expectations for a Chinese place, everyone but one support waiter was rude, rushed, or disinterested in our experience. I’d echo what others have said about not getting the warm towels when we sat next to tables that did. The main waiter (Spider tattoo guy) even told the support waiter in Mandarin to stop making the Peking duck pancakes for us. The support waiter was nice and even brought two giant scoops of ice cream for my daughter’s birthday. I tipped 15% and gave the support waiter a cash tip. The food wasn’t good enough to overcome a lot of the concerning negatives about this place. The good:- fried rice, mapo tofu, eggplant, shrimp dumplings, food came out quickly, Peking duckThe bad:- service, portion size on shrimp dumplings

Small place, but the quality of the food is very high. Chicken lo-mein and chicken with broccoli were delicious. Don’t come here if you’re wanting volume, this is a place where you go to eat quality Chinese food. Highly recommend.

The best Chinese food with the highest quality and the service is top shelf. Great cocktails and wine list.

Food is great..I do feel like the restaurant could use a few updates here and there. I prefer getting takeout from here, but as another review stated- the person answering the phone is a little tough to deal with- I deal with it because I like the food but it's pretty consistent with the attitude. (You see it with other people as well if you wait inside the restaurant for your food) Sesame chicken, lo mein, egg rolls, general tsos, the oil- free options...all solid. I'd skip on the moo sho- not overly impressed there. Would I travel for the food and restaurant? No. Maybe not the best date spot either. It's great if you're in the area and craving it!

Food is ok on its best day. Prices are way too high for what it is and compared to other Chinese restaurants. The real issue is the staff, more specifically the person that answers the phone. I assume he is the owner. So rude for no reason. I would rather pay twice as much anywhere else than ever recommend this restaurant. I don't know why the owner has an attitude. Someone should explain to him that his restaurant is so mediocre and he should at least be polite.

We finally made it to hunan! This place is one of the hottest dining destinations in Roslyn. There are always hoards of cars in the lot or waiting for valet. We beat the rush and snagged a table right away around 630pm on a Saturday. First off, the staff are incredibly kind and attentive. We appreciated their recs in navigating the menu. We started with the wonton soup, hot and sour soup and spare ribs. My daughter loved the wonton soup (very good, brothNot too salty) and I loved the spare ribs (such good flavor). For entrees, we opted for the chicken lomein and beef with scallions. Lomein was very standard but the beef dish was very good. It was sweet and fried, appreciated the freshness of the scallion. We will definitely be back to try more dishes, we left very excited about hunan!!!

I have been to Chinese restaurants around the world over the last 40 years or so. Hunan Taste is the best I have ever come across. How lucky am I to live so close to one of the great Chinese restaurants in the world? I could list the dishes to order but my suggestion is to ask the waiter to bring you soup, some appetizers and some main dishes after you guide him to what you like. You will not be disappointed in anything that they put in front of you. The restaurant has a full bar and they are always cleaning so it is 100% clean at all times. If you've been there before, you know, if not, this a must try.

Hunan Taste is consistently delicious! The owners and staff are friendly, funny and welcoming. Their pork dumplings with hot sesame sauce are worth the trip we make from Queens alone! Their ribs are perfection. We've been coming here a long time (20+years) and never had a dish that was less than delicious. We've run through nearly the whole menu. Also when my family comes back to NYC to visit, Hunan Taste is always on the list of must dos while they are here!

Great Pork fried rice! Eggroll was HUGE and great! A bit expensive but a good bang for your buck.

My favorite Chinese food on Long Island! Everything I've ordered from here is delicious. There's better Chinese food in China Town in NYC or Flushing, but this is the closest to me and I love them!

We have lived in the neighborhood for many years and honestly don’t know why I keep ordering from this establishment. The food is subpar and ALWAYS incorrect upon delivery, including the fact the it is severely overpriced. We received our order this evening, once again it was incorrect - to which we called the restaurant who told us that we should accept the way they make their recipes, regardless of being completely wrong. Our food was also COLD and one dish was completely undercooked and needed to be thrown away. The Nassau County Health Department should be involved and investigate with a new health rating. Do NOT order from this place - GO TO PEARL EAST in Manhasset - it’s amazing! This was my last time - EVER.
