I hate writing bad reviews for small businesses. However, I think criticism may better help the restaurant. Let me explain.
I moved to the area about a year ago and walked by Mason's Grille. Place was busy, smelled amazing. My wife and I enjoyed the food and we would recommend this place to all our friends and family. So let's establish that I am not a complete hater of this restaurant.
We went yesterday evening for dinner and this was my honest experience.
- There's a strange smell the the dinning area. - Service is always great. - Soups and bread are great. - Caesar Salad seemed dry and lacking of cheese. The presentation almost looked like a bag of Wegmans romaine lettuce without any dressing and a few pieces of grilled chicken slices. - Mac and Cheese Lobster - watered down cheese sauce and too garlicky + a small portion of lobster. This was not worth $33. -Seafood Norfolk - oh boy. When I had this a year ago, it was amazing. The fish was so bland, tasteless, no seasoning. I'm guessing the seafood was frozen and thawed out in the oven. - Bloody Mary and chocolate martini - Excellent. - Mason's perfect pomegranate - fruit flies in our drink. Yummy.
Overall if I can recap this review. I'm not a professional critic. I'm just a guy that travels a lot in the states, eats different foods and watch a lot of nightmare kitchen. This place, in my opinion use to be great. I can tell, over the year that they are cutting corners in food quality and portion. The pricing is also tiered with some of the higher end spots downtown.

Three members of our party of 6 had the spaetzle. It was ROCK hard. Not edible. Could not cut it with a steak knife. One person had asparagus which was a few strands of an overcooked mess. Our young waitress did not know what to do. Eventually, offers were made to substitute small portions of mashed potatoes, after we finished the meal! It was a terrible night in the kitchen, to say the least! Not up to the usual standards of Mason's.

My entree was excellent and the service was professional and personable. I feel getting soup and salad with the entree was of spectacular value. I had sweet potato gnocchi with lobster to die for! I would definitely return to this establishment.

Very pleasant eatery on Main Street in the Village of Hamburg. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. Prices were also good.

My experience was great, I had the Mussels and the Steak salad. Steak was cooked to perfection (med-rare). Our server, Lacy is fantastic and did such a very good job. She was always attentive to us and our needs. My friend had New Clam Chowder, Caesar Salad, and Crab Cakes. He was very impressed by his meal and enjoyed it throughly. Love having dinner here.

This was genuinely the best service and the sweetest people ever the food was delectable and amazing it was so so good the guy who seemed to own the place can and thanked everyone personally for coming and it was an amazing over experience

First time dining here and everything was great. From the rolls and butter to the bbq chicken flat bread. The bourbon pork chop was very good. Going back soon.

We attended the wine pairing dinner event. It was fabulous from start to finish. One of the best themed dinners we have ever been a part of. Bravo to chef and staff!

There something positive I need to say: 1. Their Turkey Panini is literally the best sandwich I've ever had in my life.
There's two things I think they should work on: 1. Employees talking right over the beverages and food and holding glasses/cups by their rim 2. Complimentary fries being charged separately on the final check but not being shown on the prices of the menu
I ordered one of the specials of the day - Shrimp Stir Fry. The dish was very salty, the shrimp were tiny, over cooked with the tail and head section touching into a tough piece. The vein was not completely removed from the tiny shrimp. Great service but sadly meh, on the meal. The salad that accompanied the meal was outstanding as well as the seasoned rolls. I did not complain as I was on a first date.

Everything is always excellent. I had the barbecue bourbon pork chop. Was there with my brother and sister and girlfriend, sat at a high top in the front window and felt like VIP. They have the steady menu, but also always have a nice list of specials.  Never disappointed coming here.

Mason's is a Hamburg tradition. But also the food menu remains current. The fact that this place is always packed tells us how much we still love this place. The fish fry is unmatched. The servers and bartenders are ultra professional. Highly recommended, and they can accommodate large parties. Go and enjoy!

Six of us came for dinner and several in the group had never been to Mason's Grille 52. Out waitress was friendly and gave us outstanding service. The food was delicious and accommodations were made for a gluten free dinner. We'll definitely be back!
