Lefteris Gyro Taverna

This used to be our favorite family restaurant. I used to take my family at least once a month to the one in Yonkers . Ever since it closed I take them to this location. My kids used to look forward to the fried calamari, pita bread and their fries. A lot has changed, from the food quality , taste , portion and of course prices. I understand prices are high everywhere but it’s one thing to pay and another to pay for a very low quality food. My mom had steak and it was delicious but take a look of the chicken fingers, there is barely chicken there. The atmosphere is great but I will not be going there for a while. For a $150 lunch I would rather eat at home.

Dining at Lefteris Taverna felt like a little trip back to Greece. The food was truly authentic and brought back wonderful memories of being there — fresh flavors, comforting dishes, and that warm Mediterranean feeling you hope for in a great Greek restaurant. The atmosphere was relaxed yet trendy, making it perfect for a casual dinner or night out with friends.

The Mediterranean Sangria was absolutely delicious and refreshing, and the Gemista was cooked perfectly — flavorful, comforting, and authentic. While the food and ambiance were excellent, the service could definitely use some improvement. Overall though, the quality of the cuisine and beautiful vibe made it a place I’d still happily return to for a taste of Greece close to home.

I’m practically crying as I write this, thinking I might be saying goodbye to Lefteris after decades of them being among my most favorite restaurants for decades, in multiple locations.

The prices are now outrageous and nothing else can be said. I’ll go right to the food, which all ended up – not even half-eaten – in the trash. The sautéed spinach was limp and soggy. The salad dressing, which used to be liquid gold, was also diluted and tasteless. The soup was a salty, overly-thickened bowl of glue. And now a word about the service. I used to love being greeted by the staff in Tarrytown, so friendly, so helpful. Today I ordered takeout from Central Avenue, Hartsdale. When I got home, I found that there was no soup, which was on the receipt. So I had to go back to the restaurant (not my favorite way to waste 45 minutes, or to burn gas at $4.50/gallon). A different young woman greeted me. Well, no, she DIDN'T greet me, she stared at me like I had just come in from a spaceship, saying nothing. I said that the soup was not with my order, and instead of saying, “oh I’m so sorry. Let me go get some soup for you,” she said “you want soup or credit?” I said soup, but I was shocked at how blasé she was. So when she came back, I said “you really should have given me both the soup and the credit.” She actually said “we don’t have a policy for that.” She didn’t apologize for the inconvenience, or offer to speak to someone else. She rolled her eyes, handed me the soup (a shockingly small portion - no size choice was offered) and I left. And I may never go back. So many new places and old favorites could use the business - and would be grateful for it.

Shrinkflation!! The Gyros are half the size of what they used to be, and more expensive. 3 Gyros, one soup and an order of hummus which they forgot to pack the cucumbers. Plus the hummus was half the size of what it used to be. All for $85! What a joke! We used to love this place, now it’s off the list. Save your money

Absolutely delicious food, some of the best Greek food I’ve ever had. The portions were very generous & extremely filling. Very high quality meal. The restaurant is nice & spacious with plenty of parking.

Not sure if the Tarrytown location remains good since it's been 4 years since , but this is my first time at their Hartsdale location, and the quality has declined. Nothing bad, but it's more like cafeteria food than restaurant.

Prices have literally doubled across all dishes since too. I know everything and everywhere has become more expensive, but considering the excellent quality (previously), and it had always been a bargain relatively, it now falls VERY short by any metrics.

The worst! We ordered from this place and the order never showed up after 1.5 hours. I called and they had no idea what happened to the order. They stole my money and order and never delivered it and had no idea why. Their delivery person was supposed to bring it to us. The owner - Sylvio - did not care that the order was lost and we had spent over $135 and had been waiting. They lied to us and told us the order was on the way and then finally admitted they lost it. Do NOT give this place your business. Terrible customer service.
