Hands down one of the best Haitian food places in Long Island. Worth the wait and every penny. The patties are fresh and taste so good. The fried plantains are fried perfectly and the pork is seasoned and also fried to perfection. They're on the pricier side but you definitely get what you pay for. It's for sure recommended and will continue seeing me as a customer.

The absolute best Haitian food on the island. Food is good, the price is good, the service is good, there is nothing bad that I can say about this place. I typically call and order ahead and never have any issues. I like my griot fried hard (sék for my zoes), and it's always as is. The rice is yummy and flavorful, and to my suprise, my picky haitian mom approves! I love spice, so I do wish the pikliz came in bigger cups, but that's about it. They make fresh patties daily and they have an assortment of Haitian drinks, especially my absolute favorite Cola Lacaye (sorry y'all Couronne just isn't it for me, but they do have it) Ragaman, they have an assortment of Cremas and they even have Ak100. I'll always come here when I have a taste for food from home.

This was my first time here. My sister in law has been a repeat customer for quite a while. We ordered the poule en sauce (stewed chicken), rice and beans, and the legim dish. Everything was delicious. The woman behind the counter providing assistance was an absolute sweetheart. She was so kind and pleasant and provided a professional face to the establishment. That is a big bonus! We also had a little dessert that we Haitians call pen patat. Pen patat (pain patate) is a dessert made with batatas and other ingredients. Theirs was delicious! They also have jarred/bottled Haitian condiments and tablet (what Americans would identify as a nut brittle). I recommend visiting Taste The Island. I will definitely be back. Thank you!

I have been coming to this place ever since I was a child. They had the best patties especially after I came from church. I went back to this restaurant after moving a few years ago and it was even better than I remembered. I recommend this Taste the Island if you wanna try Haitian food!

The food is always good! I suggest bringing cash and calling ahead with your order to reduce wait time. Definitely recommend

Oxtails aren’t consistent! One week they’re cut big and served a good portion. Next week they’re cut very skinny and given a smaller portion for the same price. If your food isn’t consistent, customers won’t return.

Been coming here for years and the food consistently tastes the same which I appreciate. This place has the best Fritay especially the tassot (fried goat) in Long Island, hands down! My husband and I go for it weekly because it's so good. Other dishes are good too such as the snapper and fried turkey. Customer service is just ok not the best and I wish they would accept debit/ credit card but other than that its a good restaurant!
