The Spy Social Eatery and Bar

The Spy is one of my absolute favorite restaurants to eat at in the Hudson Valley. They use the freshest ingredients and the quality of the food is consistently delicious time after time. My husband and I used to eat here very often when we lived closer and now that we moved and live almost 40 minutes away, we still make the drive! From the fresh pasta to the tofu wings (like no other!) to our favorite—the turkey kale burger, everything is just SO good. Not to mention that everyone that works here is so pleasant, attentive, and kind. It’s really always such a pleasure to eat here. Highly recommend!!

Delightful experience here all around! We sat at the bar and had the pleasure of being serves by Brigitte who was welcoming and friendly. We had the beet salad and tofu wings to start, and then the chicken pot pie and steak frites, and everything was perfect! We left no room for desert which was a shame as the selection sounded awesome. Great selection of drinks, they have Maine Lunch on tap. Our fellow patrons at the bar were a friendly bunch and the atmosphere was relaxing. It's a bit pricey but I still felt we got value for the money. We'll definitely be back here!

Vegetarian options: I think the V crowd would be happy with the selection here, and, based on the quality of the tofu wings, have an enjoyable experience.

Parking: Ample sized lot on site

Kid-friendliness: Make it date night and leave the kids with a babysitter...

The owners are, truly, some of the most genuine business owners I’ve ever met. Deeply kind, so fun to be around, and to top it off, the food and atmosphere are great and chill. I love The Spy team, and I’m so glad that it’s in my town. Thank you all! ✨

We tried the crispy duck fries appetizer as well as the salmon and chicken pot pie entrees. All three were delicious! The atmosphere was comfortable. We will definitely be back.

the server was a beautifully patient, understand and kind person. the ‘owner’ on the other hand, and i put ‘owner’ in quotes because there is no way this woman has been able to run a restaurant for so long. no wonder her turn over rate is SO high in the front of house. she is MEAN. i have no other way to describe her. she berates and yells at her staff in front of diners, and consistently messes up orders when she’s forced to serve because her staff won’t stay on to be treated SO poorly. the food was good, at least.

Wow. Hosted a 40th birthday party here last night and I can't say enough about the owners, staff, food, and service. From beginning to end, stress-free coordination with George who is genuine, caring, patient, and helpful. They went above and beyond for us. Everything was absolutely delicious. George was responsive and delightful to work with. We will be back- do not hesitate to come here. What an absolute gem. Thank you George for making it a memorable evening for such a special occasion. ❤️

Ordered takeout last night and it did not disappoint. For a spot that isn't full vegan, their tofu wings were so good. They also had a butternut and apple soup that was vegan (special). Updated from previous review on 2023-11-10

Charming restaurant with excellent food. Been here a few times, very consistent. Good vegetarian offering and some vegan choices as well (tofu wings are fantastic). The service is good.

Just read a review on here from someone who mentioned the owner being vile and I’m genuinely perplexed. We had a reservation for 6:30 and had to move it to later due to friends running behind. The owner was amazing and accommodating, regardless of the fact that it was a crazy Saturday night. Honestly, I was surprised the owner was on prem.Anyway, the food was amazing, the staff was lovely and our whole crew is looking forward to another great meal at Spy.

Dietary restrictions: I am highly restricted in my diet and they accommodated me fully. Not always the case at busy restaurants in the Hudson Valley.
