Average looking deli. VERY friendly staff - attentive, polite, and makes you feel at home. There was a hot buffet in addition to the menu as well as a special listed on a placard (Jack in the Box) which I got. The place was clean and quiet - just the way I like it. Food was as expected. Mac n cheese bites were pretty much trash - you could tell they came out of a frozen bag. Burger was good - not too big not too small. Came with onions and pickles - perfect! Fries were crispy and delicious. I really liked that they gave ketchup AND ranch with the meal. The special was a smallish burger, fries, Mac n cheese bites, and a drink - all for $8.69. A bargain in this area. I left feeling satisfied and I know I'll be back. They lost a star for the Mac n cheese bites. They should serve up some tostones or baked beans or something. Not enough to chase me away though...

I usually don’t give reviews, but I need to leave one on this one. The food is not good, the sandwiches are small and the PRICES are BIG. I paid $17 for a chicken Wrap. Please watch out your pocket because they will ripped you

Decent food but so expensive!Back when this place first opened, the sandwiches were decently priced. Roughly $6 for an Italian combo sandwich on a roll. Now, for that same sandwich, you’re looking at $9.95 + tax. And on top of everything else, they charge a credit card surcharge! 3.5% ?.I think them being across from the high school made them see nothing but green, and now they’re trying to see how high they can push the prices before kids stop showing up.It’s a shame.Response from owner:I consider our deli one of the cheapest around the town. I'm not sure where you got 6$ but that has never been the case, for an Italian combo roll it was 7.99 plus tax. We first opened the year before Covid, so I'm sure you've seen prices change everywhere, nothing is cheap anymore. We actually do give every student from the school a discount when they show ID. On top of that, the if you don't like the credit card surcharge, simply use cash and your total would be the exact same as the menu states. We are sorry that your time at our deli wasn't the very best and we hope you come back so we can give you a betterexperience.Edit: I’ve seen your response.- Your deli is 1000% NOT the cheapest in town. Don’t claim to be something you’re not. There are several, much better and less expensive establishments around. (And in Hopewell)- I run a business. I keep my receipts for everything. I’d be happy to go back through my records and find a receipt for a sandwich I bought when you first opened. It was no more than $6.99.- True, you do offer a student discount. However, it’s not a discount when you add 20% to the price, then take off 20%. That’s still the same exact price! And I know this to be true because I was a JJ student just last year! I’ve seen it happen with my own orders- you increase the price then apply this discount. That’s a shady business practice to say the least.- Credit card surcharges are nothing short of illegal in New York State. I’ve already sent photos of the sign on your register to the Attorney General’s Office, who does take these complaints seriously. I can only hope you get fined for this.

I have not yet dined at this place, and only came here on occasion, when doing orientation and mobility with my instructor while in high school. The people here are very nice, and I highly recommend giving them morbusiness.

The people here are very kind. I once didn't have enough cents to buy a drink and the employee said he would just take whatever I had and didn't need to worry about the money. Everyone is very genuine and kind so please respect them and don't be rude to the employees here. Thank you G & R Deli Cafe for always being kind!

I was touring Hudson River mansions for the afternoon and needed a good breakfast to start the day. By 11:00am, it seemed that most of the restaurants in the area stopped serving breakfast. That was aggravating but thank God I remembered this deli that is on the way to the Brinkerhoff House. I had the Bacon, Egg and Cheese hero for breakfast with some orange juice. I was the only customer that morning so I got the talk to the couple who run the place. They are so nice and so great with the customers. The sandwich was excellent and I highly recommend this tiny deli when you are visiting the area.

Was driving by and was getting hungry for lunch. Did a quick yelp search and found this 4 star rated sandwich shop. Stopped in, the people were super friendly the place was very clean and inviting and the menu looked great. The chicken cutlet with bacon sandwich caught my eye. It was absolutely delicious! I planned to only eat half and save the other half to take home but it was so good I devoured the whole thing. Two thumbs up!!!
